E89 road prescence

Seen a good half dozen or more in and around Yarm and North Yorkshire this week whilst in the family car, yellow, orange, white, black, but what struck me is how these cars stand out and and make you look until they disappear out of view. Obviously it could just be me as I have one but they really look quite different to other models on the road, and you do get lots of looks as you drive it. The other thing is despite this weather not one had the roof down, truly bizarre, but it added to the looks as IMO they look great roof up, I would'nt know as mine's never up mind.

Well, pointless post as usual, too late to change my ways now...

yep took ours out today .. roof up, because I like the coupe look .. the top down on the way home, best of both worlds

People I work with know what a Z4 is and then see mines and go ah yours is the hard top one. I thought you had a convertible? And I also get where do you store the roof when you take it off? What about if it rains? :headbang: even my mate who had an E85 and knows that the Z4 was replaced thought that because he had only seen pictures with the roof down and assumed it would be a rag top.

But yes you do get some looks as you go by people. Mike had a man at Weatherby Services last July come up to him whilst I was inside, all excited asking if it was the new Z4 (by then already had been out 5 years) the guy was totally in love, even more so when he realised it had a 'proper engine' as he called it.

Hi

just a question to you both .. have you still the run flats on (yes this old question again) still cant make my mind up to change them or not ?

regards

Completely agree but just wished they had better engines in them bar the 35i, I may change next year and would like to consider the E89 again but the engines are a complete turn off for me :(

Hi Tim ... the 35is is great .. and discounted at the moment

Same thread again ... (Kermit may be long in a mo as I think he was changing his tires)

for me the question is more aimed at the 35is as this has adaptive suspension as standard, just would be great to get some feedback on owners experience with this set up . .any problems .. positive and negatives .. slightly off topic I know

Thanks James, I would be looking once the M135i is 2 years old which won't be until next June, doesn't stop me looking though  I've noticed BMW have taken all the Zeds off their special offers at the moment as they were doing the 2.8 M Sport at a decent discount. Just don't think I would be happy with the engine though which is the same as the 2.0 I had in my Zed which was pants and spoilt ownership for me. Will have to see what BMW could do on a 35i for me but might still be a tad too pricey. That is one of plusses with the M135i, its very good value for what you get :)

I've not changed yet but it will be happening within the next month or so and I will be going for non rfts. Not made up my mind if I'm going with Eagle F1s which I used replaced my RFTs on my E88 which were great or to go for Michelin. Last time I looked I think it was Pirelli top of the tree in terms of tyre followed by F1s. I usually look at all the test reports and then decide.

Hi Tim

When you go online you will never see a 35is discounted .. but when I walked into my main dealer (Fairfeild leigh on sea) they gave me the following .. this is how I ended up with the car in the 1st place, I had a Evoque at the time

our car list price was £52k with nearly all the options ..

this then dropped to £46k .. I had a £8k deposit and the dealer matched that as well so anothe £8k off .. for me a great deal and i got the TLC pack chucked in as well .. then you have the n54 twin turbo engine with over boost right up to 500Nm torque with the 7 speed dct as standard

Hi .. last question

did you put the new non run flats on stock rims ? if so what model rims do you have ?

thanks for the help

i've been driving around most days with my roof up as like most have said it looks a lot nicer with it up but when i did put it down, the showers kicked in so i had to put it back up again

but yeah i think they have a fabulous road presence and look very special when on the road if they are in m sport spec and a bright colour. whenever i think about replacing mine, i cant find anything special enough to replace it with in the same 50k price bracket
