E89 - Request for help with microphone connection!

Hello all! I'm looking to see if any of you might be able to help. I was in the process of installing a Mr. 12Volt, and I got to the point where I need to install a wiring loom to connect the OEM microphone. The Mr. 12 Volt installation video shows the connection as follows:

But on my car, the connection isn't located in the same place. Here's my car:

The connector seems located underneath an another loom on the side of the steering column, but I can't quite see where it goes, and what I should do to access it. And I don't know what my next step would be to find the connector short of disassembly of the entire steering column. Does anyone have any advice on what my next step should be?

Thanks! Do you think access to the loom and connector can be done without removing the steering wheel? Or is that going to be a requirement.

As stated in the video "... normally you'd have the steering wheel on..." so yes you don't need to remove the steering wheel to remove the cowl panels. I reused an older clip that gave a better visual of seeing what I was doing.
