E89 rear bumper variants?

I've just started to search this on google but thought it'd be easier to ask the experts. Can somebody explain why there are different rear bumper options out there on the E89 and if it ties in with specific models and years? I'm referring to the fact that there appear to be models with solid colour panels and others with the black/dark grey diffuser skirt?

The main 2 options are SE and M Sport bumpers.
The M Sport bumper is the one with the grey lower panel.
I think you can spec the IS model with a colour coded lower panel instead of grey.

I thought the colour coded bumper was standard on the IS but like you I'm not sure

I believe there are 4 all together:

1 - SE Spec (all but 35i)
2 - 35i SE
3 - M Sport Spec (all but 35i and 35is)
4 - 35i M Sport & 35is
