E89 Options

Is there a E89 options list and explanation on the forum anywhere?

Quite a few options shown on the BMW site but no real explanation of what they all do. Some are self explanatory, some not so much.

Might start compiling a list if there isn't one already.

There isn't one that I know of but fire away with any questions and I'm sure someone will come up with a answer for you

On the BMW website if there is an i next to the option, it's an information indicator and opens up a separate box and explains what it does

For some options it does for others it's just blank or has a title or picture which doesn't help much.

MB aren't much better on their configurator TBH

No list here, but go for the heated steering wheel. cheap option, but excellent in the winter LOL

I'll start compiling a list. Considering I don't even own a Z4 yet might be a bit of a challenge and I'm sure will have mistakes. If anyone has info or can help it would be appreciated.

Re your other thread, your going to have to put 'as at dates' as specs have changed over the years as well as prices.

The 23i & 30i details will also need to be found and added it came as standard, m sport and highline trim.

It's not a bad idea what your doing but I thought you were looking for a list of options and what they are? instead we have a copy of the broucher and price list listing. Would you like people to expand on these?

Thanks for info. Yes, is a work in progress. Brochure info was easy to find so started with that. If you have any data on the stuff you mentioned that would be good.
Thanks

Pfft! Proper string back driving gloves are much cheaper 8)

If you're going to buy a used car - just look at what the must haves are - search for that right car and anything extra on the list is a bonus.

Only when you buy a new one do you get the luxury of selecting your own choices - but you pay dearly for that privilege!

if the OP is worried about expense, then they should not buy a sports car, but some dependable ford or something :D LOL

Heated steering wheel, I'd prefer that over the pointless TV option the original buyer ordered. Can they be retro fitted?

Just go into the dealer and sit and have a good talk with him - if he thinks your going to buy he will go thro the options list !

Not sure I said I was worried about anything :P

Nothing wrong with a Ford, had several. Excellent cars. If we are talking of performance maybe you should check out the specs on the new RS. 1500 pre orders I believe.

I find this a very bizarre statement. When I got the Z4 I was looking at the Z4 35i(S), Subaru BRZ & a nearly new Cayman. Was I worried about the costs, yes of course the Z4 was at the top of my budget. So I had to compromise my spec, but by pushing my budget to the limits I was able to get a 35iS to a spec which I find the best value for my needs & use.

Also my parents had a Focus ST on lease while on a 8 month waiting list for their car (VAG lead times are stupid!), it spent more time at the ford dealership for problems than my 1 series & Z4 combined in 2.5 years (including bodywork damage repairs). For this reason I have a problem with Ford reliability claims. ;)

I wouldn't buy Ford now because of a bad experience with a brand new Fiesta Supersport many years ago. When the car was stolen the theives did me a favour.

Ok it was 30+ years ago but the mud has stuck.
