Tweeters fit fine. Staggered how cheap/nasty the base door speakers are, will work my way round the rest of the car now....

The original 3 mounting screws are just long enough to fit the new, deeper 100n upgrade midrange speakers into my 2015 e89. The door card refits easily with the speakers 4/5mm proud of the originals. Would recommend slightly longer screws if you wishWhat did you do to make the 4/5mm fit as would like to buy these if the mod is an easy thing to do.

If I buy 2-way (coaxial) speakers and cut the wires to the tweeters (they're easily accessible on the model I'm buying) would this work ok, or would it be better to cut the connections to the BMW tweeters in the doors and just use the ones in the coaxial speakers (as they're designed to work with those speakers and I'm assuming will have crossovers setup correctly for them)?
Cheers, I actually went ahead and installed them today - with the coaxials intact. I disconnected the BMW tweeters but obviously left them mounted at the top of the doors. Unfortunately broke a circlip that holds the door lock button in the door, when the door card slipped while removing it, I've ordered a couple to be picked up tomorrow. Not a biggie as the door still locks/unlocks fine but still annoying. I'd like to think the new speakers sound better, but could be the placebo effect for all I know :roll:Pbondar said:enzed4 said:Just a quick check. Keep the co-axials intact!
Predantics may waffle on about spatial imaging etc but its KISS![]()
There are many negative issues with your proposed cut n snip approach..
All IMHO
