E89 Market watch

Thanks for the reply, I've just got my 2012 with the N20 engine and am considering a remap and want the transmission to keep up. I'm assuming any self respecting tuner could do this at the same time?

Sadly the N20 ZF8HP box cannot be re-mapped AFAIK

Related to the electrical architecture of the E89 which was a ‘hybrid’ of two generations of electronic systems used by BMW…

The N20 ZF8HP does a pretty good job as stock IMHO..

Thank you that is really helpful, just learning about the E89 after four years with my E85

No worry ask away but maybe on a separate thread

xHP a smart phone based app can re-program the ZF6HP box to give it the same characteristics as the later ZF8HP..ie faster shifts and more intelligent management…

Hi PB, what are the costs involved with the xHP app.. subscription cost? I guess you have to buy an OBD adaptor?

It’s around £190 for the licence pack which also includes all Maps. You’ll also need an approved adaptor too. I have an MHD adaptor which works for mine.

I have XHP on my 330i which is the ZF6 speed it transforms the gearbox and makes it nearly as good as the ZF8 speed well worth buying if your car is capable.

They usually do a Black Friday discount too so keep an eye out on there website :)

Anybody got any thoughts on this one at face value?

No cruise by the look of it, MOT looks reasonably OK. Cracked wheel not too long ago, trying to find out how that was resolved.

Not far from me so could be worth a look.

Birds own 35i with Hartye upgrades. Apparently they originally put Hartge suspension it as well but decided the Bilsteins were better.

Unique and undoubtedly exceptionally well looked after car, but the price?! Could get a 35i with similar miles fir £15/16k and have £13k left over for your own modifications and TLC...

I’m sure it will shift as the mods are from a ‘factory’ rather than an ‘owner’ with all that may imply….

But as you say you could build your own for less….

Although it does look very nice

I am having thoughts on this purchase. What do we think?
A decent option or should I sit tight and perhaps get something better/ more for my money as current financial conditions and winter take hold? I'm eering on sitting tight, I think.

Looks like a nice car..most options save no DAB radio and not sure if it has extended bluetooth...repair to the left bracket of the boot cover..

I'd say price wise that its an OK price given recent inflated E89 prices..

You could argue its a 'classic' version rather than the later N20 powered versions..

If I was in the market for a 30i auto then I'd go for it...if you are not fussed and you are willing to sit the winter out maybe you could do better, especially if you are not fussed about colours /options..

It's OK.
No cruise by the looks of it, dash trim is very marmite and failed MOT in 2021 for a cracked wheel (probably repaired rather than replaced).
If you don't need to buy from a stealer, there are bound to be much better value cars around privately; if not now, very soon. Judging by the £6,300 WBAC and £7,600 Motorway (which aren't reaching reserve generally ATM from what I hear) quotes I would expect to pay £9,000 for that privately now.

Anyone have any opinions on this? Or even better anyone know the car?

I can't stop looking at it and am thinking of making a bid.

Its been for sale for a while and has been coming down nicely in price but i still think its over priced a bit.

I didn't mind the dash. It has alcantara seat inserts and door cards, too. The wheel is indeed repaired - we discussed having that replaced.

I’ve noticed that gradually dropping in price too but still think it’s greatly overpriced for the mileage. There’s obviously a premium for the colour and model but not that much imo. As in the advert, it’s £11k, what do you feel it’s worth? I’m feeling it’d start with a 9 and low one at that if I was buying it.

Obviously not the same colour and slightly older but at nearly £5k less :tumbleweed:
