E89 Market watch

10K and first owner, think I would wait
Each to their own but I have had three zeds now two being ex demonstrators with less that 2k miles and one full price from new. My current 35is was £52k on the road price from new which I eventually got after much negotiation, for £34k at 4 months old with 1750 miles on the clock just over 6 years ago. Not a mark on it. What's not to like? They even gave me full market value for my Crimson 28i as they already had a buyer for it.

I have no issue in buying pre-reg or one with a few K's on the clock at a reduced price, I won't pay the same price as new for a 2 year old car with 10k on the clock, then its time to wait for me anyway

I would agree with you on that one.

The first demo I bought was being run on trade plates and was unregistered. I asked the garage to register it in their name which they did and they claimed the VAT back which they then knocked off the price I paid.

Main / National dealerships won't do that but smaller BMW independents will.

No way will I pay over the odds for cars, I will travel 800 miles if it saves me a few £k, some say I am mad but hang on, two days drive and an overnight stay - I don't care I would rather the £1700 I have left be in my bank than buying form a local garage.

I leased a DS3 Crossback for SWMBO, locally the performance line was £420pm and that basically the next up from bottom spec with 102bhp, I went to Bournemouth and had a La Premiere for £343 and there is no options that can be added to the car also had 155bhp, so saved the best part of £5k for £75 in fuel and a day out plus they gave me £500 more for the 208GTi we chopped in.

Not sure Ebay can do much about it, will be a genuine account that has been hacked, the account owner probably doesn't even realise

Im sure some folk already have, had a guy at work falling for it big time on a campervan, he was about to ping a couple of £k to resrve it, fortunately for him he listened to me. It was obvious to me but not him.

I can believe it, I also stared at a VW camper for ages at what seemed like a give away price - the guy just did not want to allow me to view, I would not pay without a viewing so I walked away.

Easy to get blinded when you want something badly

I almost got well turned over buying a Saab 99 Turbo way back in 1983 ( the super saloon of it’s day) - It turned out to be a 1977 and a 1980 cut n shut job!
Thanks to the help of Durham Constabulary and Barclays Bank it turned out well in the end but it was a buttock clenching few days I can tell you.
The main point is tho, I let my heart rule my head and I didn’t have anyone with the voice of reason at my shoulder at the time - I hope almost 40years older, I am wiser.
Just have to hope!

I think we have all had that experience Ron, I always take someone with me to be the voice of sense.

I know of someone that got done for £12k, they met someone at Cribs Causeway and handed over the cash for a stolen vehicle that was far too cheap. :headbang:

He had to buy the car back off the insurance company.

Eek :-o

It’s been great but after my 4th Z4, I am moving on. Move completed and I found a fantastic deal on a low mile FPSH Boxster 981S flat six. Sadly it’s bye to the 35is but excited for the baby 911!

Been a great few years in this highly informed group, I am still following, so till the next meet - Just Drive! :driving:

Below was the collection at the firm, not mine

I love a Boxster, but looking at that pic side by side I think I would hugely struggle which way to go! Both amazing cars :)

My favourite colour Z4….a 2012 20i MSport Auto at 16,500…kerching :thumbsup

What are you on about? It is in "immaculate condition". As the advert says, "there are NO marks or scratches" so you must be imagining that heavily kerbed wheel

Bearing in mind it is the only "Shadowline" E89 in existence (it's got "black trim around the windows" don't you know... fancy!) and has a picture of a man brushing his teeth on the idrive screen, I'd say the seller can name his price.

WheelS Will, he’s even managed to gub the back one parking too :headbang:

The toothbrushing man is a piece of marketing genius, you’re right how could I be so silly, he can name his price
