Prices are just crazy - just saw another one at 14k on eBay - they are well specced but baby engine, just seem to be living of the back of 35iS costs :(
That’s what it is, but these and other high priced cars, including 35’s are just sitting around whereas the sensibly priced ones are shifting pretty quickly
very true but at some point the sensibly priced ones are going to disappear - until Oct anyway :D

Tell me about it... even that black one for sale you showed me the other day went up £300 overnight. Can only imagine they will go up until the end of the year, people aren’t having lavish holidays so have money to spend in toys.

That is true but it also being driven by a few other things, people not wanting to use public transport so needing a car plus a shortage of chips so new cars are not being built in great volume.

All of this is driving prices up for used cars - just got to hang in there Ash, something will turn up for certain :D

Which model is the most desirable?
I always thought each model had its own merits for very personal or individual reasons - it seems recently that the benchmark is being set by the 35is

No new sales really during lockdown, no trade ins, no auctions and people with money burning a hole in their pockets with no foreign holidays, no down the pub multiple times a week and eating out etc, pretty well the perfect storm for a shortage of supply and excess money to spend.

I know good E85/6/9 ‘s are making good money but I posted on the G29 thread the other day, there’s a 6 month old car with 5k miles, 3 option packs for sale as an AUC and if you add road tax, a tank of fuel to that it’s a few £’s off of a brand new fully loaded one. People are buying these as the build slots are few and far between for certain models and I’m sure this chip issue has some effect somewhere along the lines.

I also commented on [ref]Pondrew[/ref], used car prices thread that some companies are using dynamic pricing (I didn’t know that’s what it was called until someone else said it) and that changes the prices sometimes on a daily basis by what’s going on elsewhere in the market.

Ron, I think the rarity/power/desirability of the 35’s make them the benchmark. I also think that people are realising they are very capable cars for the money and they meet the criteria for what most people want out of a fast roadster.

Other models are following suit, some for economy, some for price, some for availability as you say they all have their merits and the demand is definitely out there for well priced good cars whatever model

I agree. The 35is is the "top of the range" E89 as no M was made, so essentially as a used car it is an E89 "M".
Look at the E85/86 M prices compared to the others. Ridiculous. Even those god awful Z3M bread vans are fetching stupid money, presumably because of the M.
As a used car, the "top of the range" has always attracted higher money, just lately I think there is an investment angle going on.

Totally agree, it is a mine field when buying at the moment, decent cars that are priced well are shifting quickly, however, cars are hard to come by and prices at a premium due to all the reasons above.

I agree some places are using dynamic pricing - the trouble is this will just annoy people, if I was watching a car and saw the cost increase for no reason other than market forces (read profit), I would just look elsewhere.

Clearly the 35iS is the one to have but not everybody wants to spend £20k plus to buy so others will buy for the reasons you have listed Ron, I bought a 23i, its plenty quick enough for me (at the time) and had all the toys as it is an Msport Highline, plus it has a decent soundtrack.

Now after being on here I want a 35iS but going to have to wait :D

What an absolutely shocking ad - why even bother https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/274813993676?hash=item3ffc30c2cc:g:tD8AAOSwIpVgsU7V :headbang:

Cheap, though. I do like the painted wheels! MOT history shows 125k miles at MOT (March).
Maybe it is a "less is more" type of thinking. Or just a lazy git! :D

It is cheap but my god put a little effort in to the ad - no one their right mind will even spend 30 seconds on that one

I've seen worse. Those type of ads usually have the added caveats of: "no time wasters, I'm not bothered if I sell it or not, don't text as I won't respond, don't try and contact me as I couldn't give a sh*t. Oh and anyone with under 300 positive feedback don't bid as it will be cancelled".
They're my favs! :)

Mine to but this one is shocking, this is probably the second most expensive thing people buy after a house so make some effort to attract a buyer, maybe he thinks that it is cheap so will drag them in :?

Better than it was yesterday, 3 pictures, no internal shot and number plate obscured so no description and not one clue about mileage. Doesn’t deserve to sell it with that little effort

Bloody hell didn't think it could get any worse :headbang:

Seems expensive as a private sale with partial service history - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174787310383?hash=item28b222b32f:g:hw0AAOSwLeBgtNq3

Also wondered if the iDrive is not working as the cover has the release button for a non iDrive car :?

Actually quite like the exterior mods, the black on blue works quite well but alas 13k, on yer bike.

Well spotted with iDrive and what’s that horrible mark just behind the non iDrive cover on the dash?
