E89 Market watch

I clicked on this last night and on Autotrader, the pictures have now been updated and so has the price. Was £18550 now it's £18,999, there is only one reason the price has changed and that's because the phone is ringing off the hook IMO.

My insurance claim had still not been agreed (accident 2 weeks ago) and I was saving this advert as evidence for price negotiation and I don't expect it to be on long. Don't need it now though as insurace as only finally agreed to my repair this aft.

For info, the "book price" for my 2010 35iS with 52k miles was just under £13k  not that it matters now but that is the value my repair was based on.

Will take a look at the revised advert, I never understand why the put the price up, most people will have seen the ad at the Lowe cost.

I looked at a Alfa Spider at £5k, week later was at £4.5k then £5.5k, it myst have changed 5 or 6 times when I was watching and it put me off buying it.

Please that the insurance have finally agreed to repair the car :D  , one less hassle all round as fighting them is not easy or fun, £13k book value is £5k under what it would cost to replace :(

It's the same dealer that listed ibroker's beautiful VO, so its surprising they've presented this one so poorly.

I’d imagine the difference is they were presented with a retail ready immaculate car with ibroker’s and a quick wash and a sticker on the window was all it needed. Looks like they’ve done the same with a not so well presented car

Well as Zforbes has said the ad has been updated and it now looks like a very nice car, it will not hang around long in my opinion :D

Thanks, I had to verbally abuse them today, I felt sorry for the person who answered the phone and had to explain my annoyance is not with her but the company she works for. Had a call an hour later from the assessment engineer, nice pleaseant chap and he admitted the "book value" was only used to grade the cost to repair and acknowledged that it could be worth much more. We all have personal taste when it comes to colour and interior finishes but IMO the red one would never be parked on my driveway :poke:

Thats is nor fair on anybody, they need to be a little more proactive when dealing with this situation, you actually saved them money by demanding a repair rather than writing the car off.

What happened to the third party - they still trying to claim against her?

I quite like the red, in fact most colours look good on the Zed, I would not want either silver or black, otherwise I have no major issues with the colour choices, even Havana looks ok but would probably not buy one in that hue.

Nothing sorted regarding fault yet, my insurance is claiming from the lead car but I expect them to say "you should allow time to stop" so although there is no doubt of root cause of accident and it's 2 against 1 I don't expect the blame to fall as it should. I'll be annoyed about that but financially it could cost me my excess of £400 and my renewal is due anyway. Quotes in and whilst I expected to pay circa £230 my cheapest quote "at fault" which I'm expected to enter due to claim not settled is £250 but excess has increased by £550. To pay the same excess as last year then renewal comes in at £300. In other words not worth losing sleep over. Even not at fault increases by half the difference anyway although the £400 will be paid back.

The biggest chuckle I had was Saga being the most suitable quote (I turned 50 in September)

Colour is a personal preference hence the :poke:

Mine is Silver - wasn't looking for silver but I love it and think the lines really suit the colour. Grey would've be my first choice, followed by black (although my obsession with cleanliness and swirls would cause major frustrations) then Silver then VO which I have now got a soft spot for and fafter that white. Red / Blue is a no-no for me, we are all different and thats why manufacturers make more than one colour

The red is ok for me, not the best but I wouldn't rule it out.

The leather on that one still looks discoloured and worn, they've done a good job scrubbing it up but it's noticeable. The remap might put people off.

I remapped my last car, A5 3.0tdi and difference was massive, ran it for 30k and never missed a beat - would I map again? of course I would, it transformed a very boring car into an interstesting boring car.

Would I buy a car somebody else had remapped, maybe but even though I ran one without issues I dont think I would with a 35iS unless I'd had some experienced 3rd party to confirm no issues.

The red one looks ok to me, if that was on my short list I'd be kicking tyres very soon as it wont be on long IMO/

p.s. cream leather may look worse on pics than in real life

I have a feeling you may be right that the fault will not stick with driver one, its a pain but not much that can be done and as long as the insurance doe snot rocket then nothing to stress over.

I am with saga on two cars, the DS was with them and as I lost my job and company car, I went with Saga on the Zed as they gave me full no claims, will be changing next year as they are expensive for me.

I have had a few silver cars, in fact I have a silver Corsa as a runaround so nothing against the colour, just wanted something different and the DS is black so not having 2 black cars, I always liked the e89 in white and mine had the spec I wanted so wasn't bothered about recession colour, love red or blue with cream leather.

VO is my favourite colour, would love a 35iS in that colour but maybe a few years away from getting due to having to get he house sorted first, bloody boring stuff always gets n the way :D

I would take it with no issues and get the leather sorted by someone if it was that bad, it looked ok to me though :D

Another look at the leather - not that bad although drivers bolster is hidden so need to see it first

That orion silver (bronze) one I looked at over in Wales before Christmas has just come back onto Gumtree - same seller as before so it obviously didn't go.

Manual, 35i, 63k, iDrive - on paper quite enticing given the price (shade over £10k) but lots of TLC required.

Good evening!

Well, following my first post about Sytner's £30K Z4, looks as though they are at it again!!

https://usedcars.bmw.co.uk/vehicle/202104101205636?quoteref=84835b29-651d-4d7a-aff6-8428fddb5613

On the plus side this one is £27,500.....

Still a lot of money......I'm currently after a 35is.......I had a fab 35i new back in 2013 and always regretted selling it......is it me or are there a number of red ones for sale at the moment....ok if you like red I guess!

As they say the market is the market, if people are willing to pay then the prices go up..in economics you only need a small excess of demand over supply for prices to move far!

Is that the one by me in Goytre?

This does seem to be a trend right now on 35iS - will it hold after lockdown / summer?

Yup.

Noticed a red 35is on Ebay today, not sure if that's the one discussed a few posts back - was on Facebook marketplace a couple of weeks ago. Nice looking car but the MOT history was a bit scary.

I'm tempted to leave it a while I have to say, I would like one but not at those prices, will be interesting to see what happens after lockdown/summer for sure!
