well it takes all sorts but I would do a lot of research and for that money you can buy a lot of cars including a G29

I agree, don't get me wrong i like the e89 and all but for north of 20k these days I'd be looking to get myself into a G29

35iS is going to be special but at £30k then not for me :o
it does seem crazy money, its not that long ago a member was looking to sell his M40i G29 on here for not very much more.

There was, but the G29’s are following a similar pattern, the same spec’d car that was on here at £33k would now be £38-£40k

I guess that just highlights the value of buying from a fellow forum member and the way prices have been going lately

Been a fair amount of discussion recently..well spec’d original cars with low mileage are often preferred by people...buying from ‘BMW’ main dealer makes sense to them, Synters wouldn’t price it there if they did think they could get it.

Many E89s now have mods that make them less desirable to certain groups

If you’ve got the money it’s not an issue..

This is very true, from everything I have seen / learnt main dealers price their cars knowing they will get somewhere near it if not the full ask. They also know some people will pay a premium buying from a franchised dealer.

I agree if a good priced, nice car comes up, jump on it, particularly if a known forum one.

Brand new M40i’s are literally flying out the door. There were 18 new unregistered ones in stock last Thursday, there’s now 5 and they’re mainly poor spec’d ones that may sit for quite a while yet. There was a red one with 4 options packs got put on the system at 10 o’clock yesterday morning, by lunchtime it’d sold. That’s happening on a daily basis.

There’s 9 used ones on BMW’s AUC and the cheapest is 2 yrs old and £38k, again 10 days ago there were 20 M40i’s on there ranging from £37.75k (20k miles) to £49.7K (10 miles pre-reg)

This could also be dragging the prices up of the 35’s we’re now seeing 10 plates are heading towards £18k+

Is it people coming out of covid 'lockdown(s)' with money to spend but the usual avenue of travel ruled out for now? I know we're seeing it here - the business next door sells jetskis and boats (around $250,000 and up) and they have been incredibly busy this summer.

I’d say this is contributing greatly to it and by the looks of it some pretty good pcp deals on new ones. I looked at pcp for someone the other day and it’s actually cheaper to buy an M40i over 2 years through pcp than any other way just now if you want to buy outright.

Also, someone posted that they were getting a new G29 for £400 a month. Roughly what people would put away for a holiday so back to your original point, using travel money for other things

Could be. I had little interest in 3 weeks hence I sold to him. All be it that that the seats and wheels look magnificent in the flesh perhaps those looking for a 35is just want a pure one. I think with hind sight that's the case. Again that said whoever does buy it will get a very individual item.

Could be that people want a stock OEM car, not hard to put back to that, sell on the wheels / seats, probably the best colour as well.

It is not exactly overpriced now either

Can get a G29 for the same price, perhaps but not everybody especially me wants a cloth top roadster. Horses for courses accepted but these days I personally think a cloth top is a backward step and alienates 50% of us BMW owners.

White 2014 plate 35is on Ebay today, low miles, reportedly roof issue but needs new battery so could well be related. MOT out - potential bargain territory.

Very sad to read it's being sold (by family) due to the owner passing away - hope no-one on here. Car is modified (and I'm sure the mods ring a bell with me - possibly mixing up with a 35i which had the same sill colouring).

You tempted Tim? More your colour scheme and possibly a bit of a project

Worth keeping an eye on - already a bit of a hassle, as there is finance to settle and it will need trailoring etc etc. and that's before the gamble of the roof issue.

Be surprised if a dealer doesn't get involved, as they're well equipped to deal with all of these curve balls and make a fat profit.

Clearly someone's pride and joy though I'd guess, wonder what other mods it has over and above the obvious (dual air intakes visible too!)

Drilled and grooved discs and uprated front callipers, roof and carbon skinned/wrapped interior.

The description of the roof issue is a bit vague. You’d have thought if they’d had someone from BMW look at it they’d have scanned it for codes to narrow down the roof issue?

Big thumbs up to ibroker for that beautifully modified VO now with a dealer, you did a great job on that. I was seriously tempted but it felt a bit pricey and looks like it's gone now.
