E89 luggage set

I am looking to take the car over to Europe next year and was thinking of getting a bespoke E89 set to make the most of the space. Any views on whether it's worth it and does anyone have a set for sale?

Don't need bespoke, someone already makes a full set! All a perfect fit.......

IMO not worth the expense - and they are expensive :o

I've done a couple of road trips, and bought a large soft 'kit' type sports bag to go along the back of the boot.
Two smaller soft bags in the centre under the roof shelf.
Worked a treat

Unfortunately they wouldn't fit all my shoes that I think I'll 'need' :D

I have a set for both the E89 and G29. IMO, yes, they are both worth it as they use all available space and in my case when the OH asks if something can go or if she can buy something there’s a very easy answer. Will it fit in YOUR luggage? If yes crack on , if no, no chance!

The E89 ones are Roadster brand and the G29 ones are Kjust. Roadster ones are proper cases and much better but the ones for the G29 were >£800, the Kjust bags were circa £300 so bags it was

Welcome ..I have a set of custom soft luggage … https://www.carfitbags.com/product-eng-4604-BMW-Z4-2009-2016-CAR-BAGS-SET-3-PCS.html

There are other soft bags suppliers and a hard case suppliers…

The other option is to find some soft luggage flight bags or some cheap hold alls.

The positive of the fitted luggage is that you don’t stand much chance of breaking the delicate cover over the luggage that you need to allow the roof to pack. With the non fitted luggage you may be tempted to stuff extra items in.

Brings some rigour to the packing..

I took a boot rack on a 16 day Pyrenean road trip this summer..the consensus was we could have just managed with just the boot bags..

I have used a cabin bag and a soft bag and its plenty for a week or so - just don't overpack - simples
We're going for 15 days down through France, Switzerland!, across to Austria, up through Germany and Belgium so limited on chances to wash stuff as well

I remember seeing that thread, it looked amazing. The fact that they won't impinge on the roof space was why I was looking. Don't really want to take a chance with generic stuff and lose some space when I don't need to

Do I need them, no, but am I selling them, also a no :P

They’re worth more to me to keep. If we’re going away for a weekend we’ll still use the E89 ones solely because they’ve got wheels an better for moving about

As Argyll Andy said we both have the Kjust bags …the positive is if it fits in the bag then it’s safe to put it in the boot and operate the roof..they are quality bags with sturdy zips…everybody winged about the E89 roof down luggage space..if you come from motorcycle touring it feels like you’ve   got a Transit van worth of space :tumbleweed:

There is a set for the E 89 currently on eBay and the seller has just reduced the price. I was looking at that myself, but in truth I probably don’t need them. Here’s the link. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325440948004?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=uaG37NUWSq-&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=PmTme1vwQKy&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Use 'German' (i.e. made in China) 'Roadster' 3-part set that was popular here a few years ago. Paid less than £200 delivered. Very good.

Will take wife & me away for a week with no bother. Wheels & extendable handles helpful. When full, put no pressure on any boot mechanism.

Haven't looked far, but prices seem higher now.

Thank you for link, I will take a look

The hooks behind the seats on top of the roll bars can take 25kg.

I layer up clothes in a garment bag and hang them behind the seat. There is also a metal attachment point on the rear bulkhead where another hanger can be attached with T-shirts etc. say you have five items per hanger, thats 20 items in the cabin.

This massively frees boot space, and keeps your clothes crease free!

I assume you are using the Roadster Bags. It's a recommendation from my point of view as well.
Real trolleys with a perfect asymmetric shape for the E89 trunk.

Have a look at the following pics from eBay:
