E89 Highline Edition Bumper?

Hey All,

I swiped the corner in an underground car park. The walls in the car park had these thick rubber sheets stuck to them to protect cars from scrapes. Somehow, in a freak accident, I swiped the wall, and the edge of the rear bumper where it clips to the car at the side got got jammed under one of the rubber-sheets.

Needless to say after an almighty crunch I now have a HOLE in the side of my car. The whole rear bumper needs replacing.

I have been quoted by a local body shop £650 for a new bumper from BMW. I found and E89 bumper on ebay though for £100, but my Car is the "i23 Highline Edition Sport".

My question is: Does the Highline Edition have the same rear bumper as the other E89 models or are all E89 bumpers the same?

Thx :)

As far as I know there are only 2 different rear bumpers, M sport and non M sport. The IS has a different diffuser as well.
The M sport bumper is a 2 peice bumper with normally a grey insert at the bottom half of the bumper that goes around the reg plate and out to the sides.
It would be best to show a pic of your bumper to make sure.

There is a difference, the early cars, up to and including some 2012 had the reflectors lower down, then they were moved further up after a mild facelift, have a look at cars for sale on Autotrader etc and you'll see the difference. You'll need the lower reflectors obviously.

I thought the reflector positions were just the m sport and non m sport with the m sport reflectors being higher up.

Yes sorry not making myself clear as usual, I was assuming the op has a non M sport as he didn't mention it. Just wanted to make him aware of the reflector positions on the E89 range, it'd be easy to get the wrong one on eBay. But you're quite correct.

Edit: Says bloody highline sport doesn't it, sorry, my mistake.....again... .

Nice work lol

Bumpers should be the same, normal highline car was SE (non M sport) with a slightly better base spec in toys and trim.

They did an M sport highline which again was a slightly better specification, but yours appears to be the SE version.

 That's unreal that damage, how unlucky to happen. Remember that some might not have parking sensors? I know some don't have front sensors.

Yeah I was pretty gutted about it. Unbelievably bad luck!! It looks like the replacement bumper has got holes for parking sensors, so I presume they will just detach the sensors and plug them into the new bumper.

So what's the consensus then? Can anyone tell me if the bumper I posted above is going to be compatible with my car?
