E89 Handling

You want to try a C63. It makes you feel lucky to be alive after every such journey

ARBs and stiffer springs give a noticeable improvement on the E89 I felt.
Ex C63 owner here, great straight line rocket, crap for anything else apart from track, destroying tyres and cracking wheels. Not to mention it makes you a climate wrecking ass hole

A lot of it is to do with how well you know your car and to put it bluntly, how good a driver you are. Crap driver in M car = slow, great driver in E89 car = fast

& great driver in M car presumably leaves great driver in E89 ? :driving: :poke: :)

This here Fezz floats my boat more than a big bag of floating things held up with floats. Would I have one even if I could afford it..? Nope, it, and it’s ilk, have got to be THE most frustrating expensive things you can buy on the road. These things roll around on tickover all their lives, it’d drive me crazy only being able to use 1/10 of its capability. My old £200 Nova would be more fun....

Probably true what you say but I'd buy one just to look at it.

You'll probably find that you were driving much closer to your personal limits than the M3 chap. So ultimately you should have felt more satisfied. Your car didn't help you half as much as his did.
James Hunt used to drive an old Austin van (A35 I think) as he said it was the only way he could drive near to his limits but stay within the speed limits.
Are you happier driving at 95% slowly or at 50% fast?
Guess it depends on whether you want to feel good, or look good?
Amen to this.
Speed is the illusion of fun. How something feels far outweighs how fast something is. Just look at go karting as an example.
Cant agree more, i was having great fun at my comfort level..OK not as fast as the guy in the M3 but had the same FIZZ at not much more than legal speeds....Used to ride bikes and know how much it hurts ( wallet and body ) when you push too far....ill say it again the Z for me is a much more fun package...and thats the point FUN

the problem with these things nowadays is they are ‘all show and no go’ when you compare them to the latest electric hypercars, lotus 2000 bhp for example. Tag to this the increasing unacceptability of dragging round and burning large amounts of fossil fuel for shits and giggles while India drowns and Ozz burns then the future for them is bleak. Yes it’s achingly beautiful, no I won’t stop driving my 35i but every year more Electric SUVs and other family cars appear some of which are faster than a Lamborghini 700 for heavens sake. Our cars are gas dinosaurs guys, sad but true 😩😩😩😩

Yes electric cars are faster. So is ejaculation by anal cattle prod. :? Doesn't mean I'm a fan.
Our love of cars encompasses many facets. We love the heritage of the sportscar. We love long sleek lines. The big brakes. And yes, The big rumble of the internal combustion engine reverberating through the car as it comes to life and roars to life as we press the gas and for real men, shift the gears. That's why they will always be in demand even if that means being out of vogue. Sorry Greta :P
You can't get that from an electric car. There is no noise. No roar to life. No rumble through the cockpit. No gears to shift. Just - just Pffft - you're gone like a golf cart :(
Electric may replace basic transportation but it will never replace a Zed or a Mustang IMHO

completely agree it’s in our genes and heritage, problem is this is not shared by the younger generation who, (quite rightly as they are the ones who have to clean it all up) are increasingly anti IC cars etc. If I Bought a Lamborghini my 17 yr old daughter and most of her mates would think I was a twat and they have a point. What kind of person buys a 5 litre diesel car/suv in today’s climate for example??

But we are not the younger generation. We like our older music and older cars. In their eyes I may be a t**t (whatever that is  ) but I am a happy whatever that is. Lord knows what we said about our Ps when we were young as they fed us a steady diet of lead, aluminum, and all manner of chemicals banned today... We survived so will Greta.

An F8 Tributo all show and no go....?? :o Even against the electric cars it’s hardly no go..!

I know what you mean though and you’re right but with respect that’s not really the topic, it’s handling. Having said that an electric car with 2000bhp is just plain insanity isn’t it, might as well strap your coffin to the boot lid, save anyone the bother of trying to measure up what’s left of you....

Indeed our gas guzzling cars are doomed, grab one while you can, but not getting into a climate change thing here, it’ll end in tears..!

when we consider the F8 represents the pinnacle of IC technology yet a electric Tesla sport family car is faster, and probably got more range and it’s only really the first hen of electric vehicles.
2000bhp is mad of course, but 40 years ago 80 bhp was crazy, it’s all relative.
Do you think we will have ‘moonshiners’ brewing 100ron in stills from tattys one day :D :D

According to a BBC article, the new iteration of F1 engines in 2025(?) are going to run on synthetic fuel, produced by 'extracting carbon from the air and mixing it with hydrogen extracted from water'.
Obviously this is brand new technology, but just imagine if they could get it to work efficiently!
F1 development does, in many cases filter down to us mere mortals, and this is one idea I would love to see succeed.
Sounds far too good to be true though; and I suspect the energy required to produce it would far outweigh the benefits on a commercial scale.
