E89 fusebox

Hi all, im trying to pull the fuse box underneath the glove box but its like something holding it from behind,i already unlock the wing nut, anyone can help?TA

Mine did the same, I pushed it down (away from the seat) and it popped off I thought it had been locked or there was a hidden bolt

Are you sure you unlocked the wing nut correctly? I think you need to turn it 90ยบ and the wing nut should release and drop down a little, the fuse box then drops down. I did it last week to take a look where I need to connect the dash cam and am about to do it again now (today / tomorrow) to get the cam installed. Apparently once the fuse box drops down you can slide it towards you to get better access to the fuses.

Its a pain in the butt. probably the worst fuse box you'll ever come across.. Once you've undone the nut it slides out on an extension thing...

Fortunately moving it doesn't appear to disconnect anything but the first time you take it out you'll wonder what the designer was thinking! good luck!

I experienced lots of grief getting at my fuse box. Initially I couldn't see the retaining screw but eventually I got it unscrewed but the box didn't drop down easily. Hopefully it won't need looking at again for a while.

I've heard about it sliding out on an extension. This afternoon I hardwired a dash cam to the fuse box but for whatever reason it wouldn't slide out, I could only push it down. Does it slide out on the extension easily? seems like there are whole bunch of cables underneath that might be stopping it.

could be.. you need to get your head right under the dash and use a bright torch.. much harder than you would expect!

Beside the screw you can see a rectangular loop.
Make sure it hooks back on as mine tapped until i realised i hadn't hooked it back on.

On elder E89 there is a central screw, on newer Z4 there is the white wing to be opened. At first, the block should be pressed down for 5-10cm, then pulled towards the seat.

There is nothing else to unlock, but on the first time you should pull harder.

Mine is a 2009 model and it only has the wing nut as per the photo flybobbie posted it doesn't have any central screw. I just undid the wing nut and pushed the box down but try as hard as I could I can't get it to slide towards the seat, am I missing something? certainly made my job a lot harder due to it not sliding!

LOL I did just that turned myself upside down and used a 1000 lumens head torch, didn't think my body would contort so much at my age! Might explain the pains afterwards.

Nope! I could only manage to push the fusebox down it didn't seem to want to slide towards the seat. In the end I managed to connect the dash cam, just that it made life that little bit harder being further back.
