E89 figures on how many left

Nice - Makes it look like 35iS wil be quite sort after in a few years by the look of it.

Not exactly a common car no matter what vintage you have.

I've never seen a 35is on the road except mine. But I have seen at least ten 30i. Which statistically sounds wrong versus the production numbers...

Similar to the E86 does any one have colour production figures on any of the models? 35i and 35is would be interesting to know as some colours seem pretty rare like Valencia.

Although the last car to leave the factory was a Valencia orange 35IS

I've never seen many silver E89s

Seen blue x2, white x2, 1x grey, 1x red in W. Mids plus 1x Valencia in skeggy, put me right off the colour.
Never seen my colour orion silver, although a friend thought he saw me last week, except reg different, so there is one out there somewhere local.

Valencia is really growing on me, lovely combo especially the interior I really like the carbon look aluminium with piano black and the orange stitching looks very premium if you ask me!

The Valencia orange looks better in the flesh than in pictures to me, looked at DR John's at last years watermill meet, very nice indeed and something out of the usual.

I was just browsing the Z4 owners map post and noticed you are 2 minutes down the road from me. I'll be keeping an eye out as I haven't seen another 35is on the road either!

if you keep any car long enough it will gain a classic status, who thought the humble Escort would hold such a cult status?
The rarest and sportiest models being the most sought after,
Mexicos, RS's and Twin cams all in demand but so are 1300 GT's and Sports and the E's
I know earlier cars tend to hold the highest pricees but it filters down through the subsequent models eventually
I wouldnt mind a late e-type they're a lot nice to drive than a series 1 for a fraction of the price
I have owned old cars that have gained classic status...its better than money in the bank if you stick with them through the 'cant give em away' phase.

Hi Tom

The black roof was an option , you could also change door cards to black with orange stitching

Agree with John on this despite OGs fair points.

Z5 I think will be a genesis of a completely different type of roadster from BMW and I think the existing culture which were the foundations of the three previous guises has now been abandoned. It will be interesting to see how the Z5 goes in what is now a cut throat market in this class of vehicle. As already said, efficiency is now a key area in the sales pitch but this at the cost of performance is a recipe for failure (new Boxster and Cayman are testimony to this).

I think the 35iS status will be defined on how the Z5 does. The entry level Porsches have drawn much criticism for losing two pots and having a turbo coupled with an apparently unlovable engine note.

The 35iS may just surprise us in the future perhaps either way.

Cheers JC :D

:D Should I be asking how you are getting on with your GTS Boxster? Wow, That is one hell of a machine! Rare and no doubt a classic. Cayman 718 S is a revelation in handling characteristics. If roads had rails the Cayman is clamped onto them. I am sure the GTS is even better and I know for a fact sounds way better.

I recently posted some new pics on this thread if you haven't seen it already: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=92538

Cheers :D

Ah I have moved now. Live near Crondall but drive around Farnborough a lot.

What colour is yours?

The only worry with these cars like any modern BMW is the potential cost of keeping them on the road in 20 years time. A time will come when it simply won't be possible as software updates etc won't be available and technology changes.

I'm planning on keeping the M140i for the long term but a chap on another forum has just had the engine replaced under warranty by BMW to the cost of 12k

Tim.
