E89 factory option packs

This reminds me of when the new Z4 launched, I popped into the stealers to take a look at it and noticed that they still had all the brochures for the E89 on their shelves, despite not having made the car for 2 years. So I grabbed one of each for posterity.

I thought the 28i was around £5k more than the 20i? How much were those options your car has?
Just not to lose face I tallied the figures from the links above:
A standard se 28i was £34,220 OTR
My car was £34,845 OTR with options fitted
Both without extra paint as mine is Alpine White which was FREE.

Wow, those options are very pricey - I’ve just checked & the 28i was £6.5k more expensive than the 18i in 2015 :o

I like the look of those rubber floor mats tho, always getting bits out of the velours!

I've got the mats, a quick jet wash and some tyre polish and they come up like new and they have the circular velcro pads for postioning.

And you got very little for your £6.5k extra. £50 of bigger brakes, auto dimming mirrors and a different engine map which would have cost BMW nothing extra.

Good old BMW marketing. :)

Cool! They would be useful for holidays.

Can you still get them?

I bought them a few years ago, they were advertised on Gumtree brand new in the pack £30... think I went round there at 10pm so nobody else pinched them :ninja:

Keep me in mind should you decide to go Zedless or upgrade!
I will have a look for some

2011 price list shows all of this for the comfort pack £1495

comfort package
Comprises:
– 387 Wind deflector
– 430 Interior and exterior mirrors, folding, automatically dimming
– 493 Storage compartment package
– 508 Park Distance Control (PDC), front and rear
– 544 Cruise control with brake function
– 563 Extended lighting

All rather confusing.
My 2010 23i has extended storage, PDC, heated seats, Headlight washers.

No adaptive headlights, cruise control, heated steering, keyless entry, dimming mirrors, footwell lights, lumbar adjustment.

The footwell lights is something I would really prefer.

bimmer.work or mdecoder will provide a list of all options specified for your vehicle and a nice download able pdf as well.

The BMW Drivers Guide app allows you access to your car manual on your phone. And handily enough, it stores the VIN number in the app so you can copy it with one tap whenever you need it.

Your wished for spec was probably never ever made.. :tumbleweed:

Heated steering wheels, adaptive lights , lumbar adjustment and comfort access were all rare in isolation..having them all, especially in a 23i would be a very low probability…

You can retrofit cruise, extended lighting relatively easily

:D :D
Yeah. Can't have it all I guess.
One other thing it does have is the wind deflector.
Those are expensive new. Cost about €400 on my previous C70.

Stupidly enough, there's no Bluetooth but I fixed that temporarily with Alexa Auto. It works brilliantly.
Also have a Bluetooth radio from my E90 that I can swap out when I have time.

The frustrating issue IMHo on these cars is if even if you get the hardware the pesky firmware and software doesn't exist in the right release level or option..so often retrofitting other hardware doesn'r work.. wind deflectors excepted..

It gets really confusing, I've seen cars at the high end of the range without heated seats, and even if you have bluetooth you had to pay extra for bluetooth that could stream music... pirates!

On the E90, I easily switched out the radio for an eonon Android unit.

It was a game changer. Improved the sound quality quite considerably, and was an easy enough swap out.
Bluetooth, streaming, Internet access, maps etc.
It's too bad they don't make one for the E89.
