Massive understeer takes this E89 35iS spectacularly straight into the tyre wall  Hope it wasn't anybody from this forum :(

Part of the problem with ‘action days’ is them allowing too many newbies on at the same time, all trying to get their money’s worth in their 15-20m session.

Obviously not learnt any lessons, as the same sort of thing has been occurring at ‘action days’ for over 25 years

I noticed a Citroen C1. Seriously?
An why were there so many with roof bars attached? I would have thought the circuit would make people remove them for "elf and safety".

I don’t think roof bars are going to make much difference, as these sorts of events don’t even require the car to be roadworthy.

Of course, everyone has to start somewhere, and the track is probably safer (for everyone else) than the local industrial estate…but there’s no grading of drivers or cars, and newbies would be better off having some classroom instruction before being allowed on the track…and then with an instructor in the car for the first session.

However, these events are not conducive (to the organiser’s pockets) for learning track driving.

That turned into an expensive day out. :o

I really wouldn't fancy doing a track day in among that lot, unless I still had my old old stripped and caged MG Maestro that I drove around there in the late 90s!

I built this MK Indyblade some 20 years ago now and did many trackdays all over the country, Aintree in the photo. I wouldn't venture anywhere near a track now in my p&j Z4. Far too many idiots about  MAP0288_Aintree (2).jpg

i wouldnt venture anywhere near a castle combe action day, certainly. but a proper trackday run by a competent trackday organiser, no problems at all.

An E85 would have made that turn

BTW chaps, if anyone likes a track day and you can get a big enough group together you can hire Llandow Circuit in south wales. Me and about 20 other guys off a car group hired it for ourselves for the day. You had on site medical team, marshalls, different events during the day ie open pit etc. a cafe on site for snacking and the track was just for us! Cost was around £2500 for the day so only £125 each in the end I think it was.

Absolutely brilliant day, and driving around with people I knew who all were very careful around each other.

Best way bar none to get to know your car safely.

To qualify my concerns about the Castle Combe Action Days, my track insurer will happily cover me for Tourist days on the Nurburgring, and proper track days at Castle Combe, but NOT Action Days :P

What a complete cluster f... that looks.
A mixture of people with many having no idea what there doing.
As has been said, no organisation of any kind regarding putting people into groups of similar ability, a recipe for chaos...
And the Z4 , least said the better....

The you tube videos are fun to watch, though. :D

Watched it earlier, dozens of crap cars and even more poor drivers. The speed the E89 attempted that corner at was stupid. Without a shadow of a doubt a bad driver that shouldn’t be allowed on the roads. If you don’t know how to push up to the limits you should not be driving.

To be honest I'd much prefer people push and crash their cars on a track and learn something from it than hit me on public roads. Hopefully doing track days might help make you a safer driver.

Tim.

Seriously?
If that was the case there would be no traffic jams, ever. There would be no-one on the roads except experienced racing drivers (oh and you, obviously).
I may be wrong, but I don't remember lessons on 'how to push up to the limits' on the DOT driving test. it was a long time ago, mind.

I see it as another example of natural selection. Sooner we kill off all the idiots the safer the world will be.
Anyone fancy lending Trump a car? :D

Be careful what you wish for! The world would be a very empty place....and I'm not ready to go just yet (don't know about yourself).
