E89 Contrast Roof

I think that the factory offered only two paint options. Either black (Below on a previous Valencia orange of mine) and silver (Below on a Deep Sea Blue one not previously owned by me but recently posted on a Z4 FB page). I'm sure 95% of cars would be black as the silver is a bit marmite but I think the one below, if perhaps you live in Venice Beach Florida, oozes a nice blend of both sporty and classy? Let the pile on commence....
PS - If anyone has a contrast roof, please feel free to share some images for comparison!

I had a VO with a factory black roof and loved it to start with.

I went off it for two reasons, it looked brown a lot of the time when overcast, and I felt the black roof didn’t really give a cohesive look after a time. Much prefer the E89 in one colour now.

I pondered about a black wrap on my roof…most folks shot me to pieces..

How to ruin a DSB E89. The colour scheme reminds me of Ford Grenada's and Cortina's in the 1970's.

I like the silver on DSB - have a feeling it wasn't available in the UK though?

I'm not a fan of the black roof, but a lot of people love it.

Valencia orange looks nice highly polished and clean in a sunny climate.
First one i saw was Skegness high street.
It looked a mucky dull brown colour. overcast sky and a bit drizzly.
And the car as well....

Those are two of the best E89 colours, so why not have it on the roof too?

Probably fair to say I'm not a fan!

BMW have given a lot of their cars black roofs (usually 'carbon' look these days), especially on M cars.

My wife's red Focus has a black roof, as did my old red Focus estate. Both are the 'sporty' versions, so I think black roofs are associated with 'performance' these days.

Back in the day some Ford Capris had black vinyl roofs
I was thinking the same about vinyl roofs. Vinyl roofs in the 60s, 70s and even 80s were considered 'luxurious'. Now they would be ridiculed.

All about trends IMO.

The amount of time I spent at Croydon Race & Rally and Ripspeed looking at / buying bits for my minis in the 80s. Carlos Fandango style

It was also a cheap way to disguise roof damage!

I wonder if that's why my MK2 Escort RS2000 had one?

I fell in love with a matte carbon roof (actual CF) on an e92 m3 from back in the day.

Never loved on an e89, but of all I have seen (in pics mostly) that silver/blue combo floats my boat!

Triggers memories of the rolls royce speed back cars (yacht back?) with silver roofs & teak trim. Lovely.
