e89 Comfort Package vs Comfort Access

The Z4 I just bought is listed on vin decoder as having comfort package ie cruise, parking sensors etc and I thought this also included comfort access, although it doesnt say that, so i bought an obd and bimmer code and accessed the cars vitals.I then found comfort access details and altered the door locks and side mirrors folding options( I have manual folding mirrors) so it would a) lock/unlock the car with using the remote and b) fold/unfold the mirrors on lock/unlock, all seemed to go well but when I tried these mods they didnt work, I accessed the same things again and tried again, no luck, I know that I followed all the instructions to the letter of the bimmer code, thats when I wondered if comfort package didnt include comfort access.
Sorry for the long post...
PS..the roof opens using the remote key( I didnt alter this).

They are absolutely separate packages, comfort access is keyless entry / start and few other things like partially moving the roof when it is down to access stuff stored in the boot.

Comfort pack is wind deflector / folding and dimming mirrors / extended storage pack / extended lighting pack / parking sensor and cruise control

As Mr T has said don't think comfort access can be programmed.

2 things, if you have manual folding mirrors then no matter what you do they aren't going to fold automatically but you say you have comfort pack? in which case the car should have electric folding mirrors, do you mean you have electric folding mirrors but you can't fold them automatically with the key fob and you manually have to hit the fold button on the door? in which case point 2. Bimmercode can't do it, I did it with Carista via their Beta program (I still don't think they have enabled it in the main program) and I think someone mentioned you can do it with Carly too but I am not 100% sure about that.

I can confirm Carly can do it, that's what I used to get mine to fold/unfold off the key

Thanks guys, I can manually fold/unfold the mirrors from the button on drivers door but I might buy Carly then or maybe ISTA( is that right?) to try to code it in

If you are any good with a PC/laptop you’d be better off with ISTA as you will be able to do so much more with diagnostic/repairs

Full comfort access is easy to spot as the keys are different. I have the full package, keyless entry/start and the keys do not recharge in the 'key hole' as other keys do. They have an internal button battery you have to change when the car tells you and the key has a small removable plate on the back to facilitate this, other cars do not....

Yep. Seems to be a rare option on UK cars. Not many got it.

I always assumed that was standard? (never tried it, as having read it in the manual I forgot what the button presses required are to actually do it)

The smarttop gives the same functionality to retrieve items from the boot by “half opening” the roof

Ta Rob - I have very dim memories of trying it when I first got the car, and failing - lack of comfort access explains why!

I have a smart top installed now - is the procedure the same as if I had comfort access?

Did not see that option or is it start the roof close function and then stop it off the fob?

Cheers Rob, another bit of added functionality that I did not know was available via Smarttop, this place is a mine of info - never seen the operation guide so had zero idea.
