I like them a lot! Can anyone advise on how they are removed for painting? Was thinking of matching my alpine white bodywor??

I prised mine with a trim tool. Started at the bottom corner and moved round gently. I seem to remember that the top inner corner was little tricky. You need to be careful as the net is a little flimsy, especially when re-installing.

Forgot to mention that I'd tried wrapping them in carbon as I did with my facelift indicators. Looked rubbish.

I'd personally say if you want to go that route, find someone that knows what they're doing and uses a good quality product. Not an eBay job.

I do like the idea of coloured hoops and the black and grey look good on the cars shown. I'd be interested if any VO owners give it a go to see what it looks like as not sure myself. Like the idea of the black with the Traction interior VO stripe being included somehow but not brave enough to give it a go!

How do the hoops come off for painting? Why can't they be wrapped?

I was behind a topless red E89 a couple of weeks ago and noticed how much the hoops stand out in silver and they did look a bit odd on the car I saw. Never noticed it before!

That's a really good job and they do look good.

I think for VO you could go black with w small VO stripe like you are continuing the seat pattern.

I'm not a fan of gloss black and as most of my gloss black interior trim has visible scratches I'm going to skin them in matte carbon fibre. So going with that on the hoops would tie in well.

When I had mine done - I was advised NOT to wrap them - I only really had the option was of them been painted.

Wrap or skin?.. It's a surprisingly hard shape to skin but it can be done and look good.

Well the day received the car, it was booked into an wrapping specialist, and they warned me about wrapping the wing mirrors due to the curve and said the Hoops would look rubbish, and due to the curve would have to be an to be in two parts.

So I ordered some Hoops from BMW and got them sprayed by an bodyshop.

Advise for other people, you could use plastic dip (spray them with a rubber paint) that you can easily peal off

Before you go down any wrap route with the hoops, try placing some thick tape over the end of one and seeing if the hoop will slot back on the car. There is almost no play. Because of this you have to consider how the wrap will 'terminate'. It will look rubbish if you trim the edge, so it really needs to be thin and slot into the front of the hoop to look neat. Best to experiment before doing a full wrap.
