just wondered what other E89 users with factory media

what APPS have you down loaded and currently using ??

Spotify. That's kind of it, the rest aren't useful to me, I don't want to surf the Web or look at Internet apps and crap in my car.
I want music, Nav, Telematics and the weather (maybe). It's not a smartphone...
 
I use the news feed, the weather and quite like the Google send to car and search functions. I also have the stock market feed with the companies I'm invested in too.....not so sure that's a great idea incase the @rse falls out the FTSE whilst I'm on the road.

I need to have a bit more of a look at what's available. I've downloaded some stuff but not used it yet. Mostly because once I'm driving I'm not bothered about mucking about with the iDrive

I was just wondering if there was a app for Engine data (OBD 11) stuff like that .. you can connect a I phone to the OBD port and access this sort of stuff, but just wondered if there was one for the main screen .... which looks like there isn't
 
I tried a few apps like the one that shows you Google earth photos of nearby points of interest but the novelty quickly wore off.

It's a little slow to load certain apps and I found the data connection to be quite slow especially while I'm in Wales.

It is possible to re-code the system to use your mobile phone data signal (it's a function BMW give to countries that don't have the required data infrastructure). I might try that because my phone gets 4G internet so it should speed things up.
 
The weather is ok if on holiday and the pictures at destination - it gives a clue !
I tried the email but I'm not convinced that it will be any great use. I think a lot of the apps have been superseded by smartphones.
