E89 Android iDrive Screen ** REDUCED **

Hi,

I purchased the screen from this group buy, but I've decided to go back to the original iDrive system:

viewtopic.php?f=13&t=113141

the system had been fitted to my car, but has now been removed and is in as new condition. I did not purchase the iDrive control as I already had iDrive in my car.

the screen has an excellent resolution and the system is a great upgrade for anyone that doesn't already have iDrive. I decided not to keep it as it doesn't integrate that well with the existing iDrive system.

I paid £687 (incl taxes) in the group buy. I'm happy to sell for £550 including delivery within the uk. I still have all the original packaging.

I also have a DAB unit, which uses the existing car aerial and an Apple Carplay unit for sale separately or willing to do a bundle deal.

Thanks for looking.

Pav

That's a shame. What was it you weren't happy with integration wise? Does it not work well with your existing idrive controller?

It really is a great system, I just get annoyed easily.

basically it would sometimes startup on the Android screen and other times on the original iDrive screen. I kept forgetting that some of the iDrive controller buttons went to an Android screen (e.g. menu) and others went to an original iDrive screen (e.g. radio).

you have to faff around a bit to get the steering wheel controls to work with other music apps than the built in one.

there were just too many key presses to do on the screen (whilst driving) to get to the apps I used most frequently. I almost kept it in just to have a better resolution screen for the existing iDrive, but then it got annoying when it sometimes flipped to the Android screen when I didn't want it to :headbang:

if I didn't have an original iDrive to go back to I definitely would have kept it in as it's a worthwhile upgrade over any non-screen setup.

Sorry that you decided to remove it in the end Pav, but I agree you have to be fully happy with it. :driving:

Zikim, yes as Pav says they'll sort you a controller out, and if you want any further info on this, or help just give me a shout and I'll help you out

That was our worry and why after reading everything we decided not to buy one.
We would not have been happy with certain buttons not working.
It needed to be plug and play with everything you needed ready and working like a modern idrive system.
Hope you get a buyer as its a good price.

I have a non-idrive, what extra will this give me?
check out the thread I linked to in my first post. There are a couple of videos in that thread that show what the unit can do.
