** Group Buy is now CLOSED ** Thank you to everyone :driving:

Hello and welcome to this group buy for the Android Touchscreen iDrive add-on.
Firstly, disclaimer :- I have absolutely NO connection either personal (apart from talking to them) or financially with the manufacturers/sellers of this unit, ie; I gain NOTHING from this it is solely for the membership, I already have mine.

Ok, so this unit fits on top of the dash and either replaces your cubby hole or iDrive screen as it's fully compatible with both systems.
If you don't have iDrive then you can opt for the iDrive controller and it'll connect to your Professional head unit. If you do have the iDrive system then this screen replaces your current screen and connects to your existing system and you still have the full access and operation of this as you do now.
It gives you all the usual Android apps & benefits with a nice choice of BMW style screen layouts (NBT, EVO or ID6 style).
Here are the specs...

Android 8.1
●Rockchip PX6(RK3399)
6 core EDIT - Now 8 core: Dual Cortex-A72(CPU 1.8GHZ)+ Quad Cortex-A53(CPU 1.4GHZ)

So here are the options:- (new price structure due to previous problems with the first batch)

Option 1) Screen unit with all cables required. Shipping. Fees. = $855 (bank transfer) or $865 (PayPal)
Option 2) Screen unit. iDrive controller. Shipping. Fees. = $925 (bank transfer) or $935 (PayPal)

Optional Apple Carplay built-in - No longer going to happen!!

Prices are correct for within the EU. Sorry but I'm not taking requests from outside the EU.

Yes you will get a Duty request before delivery but this will only be about £17 (UK, cannot confirm for other EU member states) from DHL

Fitting is straight forward, I’ve already made a video on this >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VC9VFJBDFQM&t
If anyone is unsure on fitting then I'm happy to fit this unit for you, I charge £50 to fit and I'll need around 2 hours. I offer free drinks and toilet breaks  and a good chat (normally car related!! :D ) while you wait. I'm in Grantham, Lincolnshire.
Failing that I'm happy to give technical advise on the fitting process if you get stuck or would simply like some info.

I'd totally replace my idrive system with this.
The beauty of this is you don't have to, you just replace the iDrive screen (so no longer pop-up) and you can still access every existing feature you have now but with the much more user friendly features that Android offer you. I see the main benefit (personally as I stream music all the time) is having Apple Carplay and Android Auto (I have and Android phone and my wife has an Apple) available, plus I can use Google Maps live whenever I'm out n about.

Interesting. So my existing idrive controller and hard drive would not need removed? I wonder how much i could get for my idrive screen

So here is the costs:-
Base unit = $750
Optional iDrive controller = $70 (special price)
Shipping = $75
Yes you will get a Duty request before delivery but this will only be about £17 from DHL
Now if you buy through this group buy directly then you won’t have a PayPal fee (normally $40)

Fitting is straight forward, I’ve already made a video on this >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VC9VFJBDFQM&t

I can give any technical advice you’d need on fitting and set up as I’ve learnt a lot since fitting and operating mine.

Link to my original post here >> https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=111965

There needs to be a minimum of 10 for this group buy to work, but if I got a guaranteed 20 then there would be a further 5% off the base price.

Any questions then please ask away
Hi Dave
Thank you for taking the trouble to set up the group buy. A fair bit of work on your part for our benefit.I’m just giving it some thought before making a final decision because it’s a significant sum. Have you an idea what it amounts to in pounds Stirling? How will we pay?

Cheers
Ian

Looks good, you did a cracking job and good on you for organising a group buy.
Shame that all the functions dont work on it, like the telephone, and that kph is the only option for speed.
When you see all the things it can do it probably wouldnt have been that difficult to get everything working.

Ian,

I think your looking in the region of £650 all in (unit, iDrive controller and shipping), dependent on the exchange rate at the time (price has to be in $ though as that is how they want it)
The way to pay to save on the PayPal fee will be to pay me and I'll send a full payment via bank transfer to them, otherwise if it goes individually then each person will have to pay the $40. Now I'd fully understand either way, after all not many of you really know me so there has to be a trust issue there and I get that, so it's down to the individual. If anyone chooses to pay direct then I'll get them to send an invoice directly and you'd then pay via PayPal to them, but with my discount but only through this Group Buy.
Hope that all makes sense?

I'm not aware of the telephone not working, to be fair I've not used mine because I have it on the stereo anyway so I'm using that.

Are you able to check this? Seems to be a fairly critical feature, and not having the phone working might make people think twice.
Thanks for making the effort to help out others with a group buy

I may be mistaken , I thought you had said in your video that a few buttons did not work, I assumed that with it being the telephone, media and radio buttons that the phone would not work. Again its a shame as the unit seems to do a lot more than it should, like showing the door open etc. so you would think the basics could be made to work.

Sorry, I may have misunderstood you. I thought you meant that the phone functions on the Android screen don't work. Are you saying that the Android phone integration works (ie, Bluetooth phone and A2DP) but the Bluetooth on the factory iDrive doesn't?
That might not be so bad as long as the Android works (and the quality of the microphone is at least as good as the factory option).
Thanks.

OK, like I say I'll give this a try later.
I currently still use the Bluetooth that is built into my Z4, mainly because the microphone position is specific to the convertible car (ie; right in front of you), whereas the microphone on the Android unit is on the far left side. Now I've not tried the Bluetooth built into the Android unit yet but I have used "Hey Google" that is part of the Android Auto app and "Hey Siri" which is part of Apple Carplay and they both use the microphone that is on the Android unit and they work fine, whether they'd work as well with the roof down though is another matter.
As for saying that the TEL button doesn't work that is only for the non-iDrive cars as it connects to the iDrive system, it would work normally for the iDrive cars that have Bluetooth, but you would still have the steering wheel button fully working on both anyway (as long as you actually have Bluetooth built into your Z4 in the first place)
