E89 and G29 comparison from my point of view

Your G29 looks gorgeous
I had a good look round them at a launch event at my local dealership.
I have to say that I absolutely loved them and find the negative comments about appearance and styling all a bit strange tbh.
We're all different I suppose. :|

Yes, I agree about the styling. Lots of negative comments online. You really need to see the g29 in the flesh and drive it to fully appreciate it IMHO.

Great review and agree with all of it.

The main issue with buying one is the eye watering deprecation. At the open day the M40i estimated value after 4 years was  the payments weren't too crazy but the depreciation was more than the monthly payments. They will make good pre owned buys but like the E89 and Z4M before it finding one in the spec you want is going to be hard as I dont see these selling in good volumes.

Still havent seen one on the road. In person I think they look far better than the press pictures showed.

The interior is also such a lovely place to be, as a cross between a daily and a weekender this fits the bill very nicely indeed.

Yes, depreciation could be a killer for some. However, I have ordered an M40i as a second car and plan to keep it a long time, barring any major problems. Hopefully depreciation will then not be an issue for me. I am into retirement now so not planning any more new second cars.
Just want some enjoyable driving and open top fun in the sun while I am still reasonably fit. I had a new 2016 E89 for a while, sold it a year later but really missed having it as a second car. Hence the reason for ordering a g29.

I haven't driven the M40i but can only imagine it must be magnificent -if the 20i is anything to go by
Look forward to hear your opinion once you've had it a few weeks and its been properly run-in
At least living in Ayrshire you have some nice quiet roads to drive on and see what its really like
Wrt depreciation lets face it thats just the way it is with new toys
You enjoy your new car - as i'm sure you've earned it with a lot of hard graft over the years
Nice way to spend part of your lump sum

Thanks for the review. Great wheels. 8) Enjoy the new Zed and the forum. Both are fun places o be. :D

Another fabulous trip out in the G29 today! Stopped off at a location where all 3 of my Zs gave now been photographed! Nice record I think! The G just keeps getting better and really does attract attention! 02321491-D426-49F7-9391-64E4C655F304.jpeg

3 weeks in and loving the car!! As it beds in it just gets quicker! Way more responsive than my e89. Lots of nice touches which I never had before such as unlock / lock on approach and departure! Might annoy some but I like it!!

Nice bit of fettling this morning in the sunshine!! A3BFFA7E-C572-457D-9BFE-7CF2FE03E19E.jpeg

I think yours is identical to the one I have on order, 2.0 Sport, Alpine White, and Cognac leather. I also specced the technology pack because I just had to have the head-up display after seeing it on the demo car.

Good to see what I am going to get!

Almost!!! Mine is mineral white but it’s difficult to tell from the pics!!! You’ll love the car!!!

Thought I’d post a little update now that I’ve done 1k in the new Z4.

Discovered Sport Plus - I know that sounds ridiculous but hey! So responsive. Way way quicker than the e89 - changes the shift patterns and makes a load more noise. The e89 20i always felt a bit leaden where this certainly doesn’t. Having driven the M40i, I know there’s ultimately no comparison but I don’t feel
short changed!!

Returning average of 32.2 at the moment which is better than the e89 and I’d expect that to improve as the engine loosens up.

No squeaks and rattles.

All in all, blooming brilliant so far. And I love the looks the more I see it. I know this divides opinion but I just love the looks, and boy do you get looked at when you’re out!! :D BB00F4FB-21AD-4CEF-B90D-78C4A3B6E4A7.jpeg
