I assumed given the lack of detail it was FOC..buyer collects from an unknown location.. :tumbleweed:

I have the same car with M Sport package and 70k miles and dealer just offered $14,500 trade. I would think that low mileage car would be between $14k and $20k

Subtle difference between pounds and dollars though

That has to be one of the best colour combos for an E89 and there aren't too many 30is around, but it needs to have a price quoted and people will want more photos and some history details.

Add some info OP and GLWTS.

It's up on the E89 Facebook group with a price of £15,500

We was WAY off! And the seller is obviously, aswell!

GLWTS. Me thinks someone is going to need it.

Forgive me for being flippant, but 'Bison' and 'Lightfoot' don't really sound like the same person.

I wouldn't be too sure about that, the 30i is a rare beast particularly one with low miles and if in totally original condition paintwork etc, currently on Autotrader there are only 4 under 50k miles and the ones near this mileage are around this price. Not to mention the 30i will be sought after being the last of the NA inline 6. In addition low mileage attracts more money and the disparity in price between low mileage and higher mileage cars is more evident in older cars especially modern classics or older.

And they are all dealers, so should be at least £3K more than a private sale.
I notice from your profile you own a 30i auto 89...not biased at all, no? :D
People can ask what they like, doesn't mean they will sell.
I don't normally like discussions such as this on a 'for sale' thread, but as the OP can't even be bothered to give any details, or price, or location, or anything on his overpriced car, then it is fair game IMO.

£15.5k for a 12 year old (at least) E89 30i, even with that mileage is too much. Even it was the very best of ANY E89 out there it is still overpriced for the UK market at present, especially in November!

It ain't 2021 anymore. Things have changed!

The advert should be removed anyway, as it contravenes forum rules. A price MUST be stated!

Sure I have the 30i but I am stating facts. Sure there can be some difference between dealer price and private sale but at this price scale it isn’t 3k! I am also talking from past experience in the second hand car business.

You are stating your opinion, not facts; as we all do on here.

Here is a fact for you: this is what WBAC will offer for THAT car https://www.webuyanycar.com/valuation/view

£8,500 difference? Needs a very dedicated, or extremely stupid, buyer at that level of difference.

Dealers in 2023 want to make at least £3k-£4k on a car of that value. Believe me, I have looked at thousands of used cars recently. They are greedy as well as having increased overheads and 'cost of living'. :)

So you’ve checked WBAC and have been told 8.5k so you think it’s worth what 10k max? Well that’s your opinion and I am not going waste time arguing with you except try finding a low mileage 30i for 10k and then come back and comment.

No it was £7k. I won't find a 30i with that mileage on for £10k, because they are ALL overpriced. Dealers buying them for around £8k (WBAC sell on to the trade for around £1k. Pile 'em high, sell 'em cheap is their motto. And it works REALLY well). Then the dealers do what everyone else does these days and use the internet to gauge the market (exactly what the OP has done here) and 'try' at a massive profit. They know they have huge margins to reduce it if it doesn't sell at the stupid money.

I didn't know until recently that Autotrader offer a 'parker's guide' type of service to the trade, based on their capturing of masses of data. So between BCA (WBAC, etc, etc,) and the selling platforms, in the modern age they can pretty much 'set' prices. Then old Joe Public look at the data available and set their (usually unrealistic) selling price accordingly.

None of it helps the wider economy when we are in the middle of an inflation epidemic IMO.

Confused.com put a value of £12k on it - Glass's have it valued at £12,800 (trade) and £15,000 (retail).

A similar spec 30i auto 40k miles on here went for £8k trade in two weeks ago..
