E89 35i 30i WANTED..!!

Anyone thinking of selling up in the near future?

35i or 30i M sport.

Grey, black or red, would consider DSB.

Essentials:

Manual gear box, will not consider auto.
Sat nav idrive.
Cruise.
Heated sports seats.
Wind deflector or at least the roll hoop brackets fitted.
Ideally M sport suspension but would consider without.
Wheel size and tyre condition not important.

Mint low mile or cheaper cars with good history, mechanically sound, but rough paintwork considered.

A lot to ask for but if you don't ask...

Anyone with anything please get in touch on here or via PM.

Thanks very much.

Gearbox choice.

Can't blame you, driving through the countryside in my X5 at the moment in France with also an auto box is not the most thrilling on the roads. Not always about the power, but about the fun.

Your driving an X5

Doesn't matter what gearbox it has in it, you chose the wrong car for fun or being thrilled ..

If you have love for a manual gearbox then an auto will never cut it and it's as simple as that.

Hope you find a nice one with the proper three pedal gearbox in it  :driving:

Driving will never be that exciting/involving with a two pedal car, two pedals are fine in a barge but proper cog swapping cannot be bettered in a performance car. :D

Yea...

Because DCT gearboxes dont "swap cogs" or anything as dramatic....

3 pedals are awesome....... in pre 1970's cars

Couple of reasons chaps, I hav'nt properly worked now for much of this year due to various health problems, so I'm giving my building business up and re-training as a sparky so work is physically lighter, I've got 2-3 heart op's coming up which could take all together another year to get them all done and I could do with the PCP being stopped, it's draining me. Also the car is so clean the concours fan in me won't let me use it, it's ridiculous, I won't use it unless it's bone dry, I won't park it anywhere, and I want to take my 9 yr old to the beach for days out etc at weekends, he loves being in it. And lastly and just as importantly yes the gearbox, as brilliant as the DCT is, and it is, the longing for a manual won't go away, I miss it too much, so all in all I'd like a cheaper manual one I will actually use, not just wrap in cotton wool, and enjoy using it without constantly worrying about stone chips etc. It'll be incredibly hard to let the new one go but it's time. Been looking at Boxsters too, some very nice 987's with good miles on around the same money, so I'll hang around a while and see what turns up, no hurry.

Sorry for the essay if you got this far...

You will be good John... It will all work out..

987 is a decent car after 2009,superb balance and poise...

Dont get a 2005-2009 car as the engines are s**t,and if you think the PCP is draining you, wait until you need the engine rebuilding on the porker.

Good luck in your choice fella....

With you all the way there John.

I have actually found it easier here in France as basically, they are lazy. They park where they need to be so where I park here, with 3 minutes walking to do, there is no one and I feel more comfortable leaving the car. In the UK, I feel the lack of respect for cars is probably the lowest anywhere in Europe which does not help my obsession for "mint" either hence the ultra low mileage on my "prestine" cars and more on the daily runners.

Going for a lower cost, more fun with manual car might actually increase the pleasure of owning and driving one.

I gather it's around the 12k mark for a 987 re-build Gaz, if we go that route it'll be after 2009 yes.

Nail on the head Paul, non car enthusiasts don't give a damn about knocking your p&j in a car park, it'll happen no question, on my current one I know how I'll be when it does and there's no point going there... a second hand one will already have the odd mark or two, and I won't mind putting a paint gun on it to freshen it up a few times, but not on a brand new one, does'nt compute...

Why buy a new one in the first place then..? I have my own personal reasons that I won't bore anyone with, I don't regret it for one moment, even taking the hit, if things had gone the way i'd planned i'd be keeping it for now and again best, it has'nt gone the right way so that's that, a change of plan needed.

Good luck with it all John.
The operations, it goes without saying your health must come first.
Your retraining good luck with scrambling under floor boards and around scruffy lofts.
Getting rid of that PCP, can't blame you I wouldn't want that round my neck no matter how nice the car is.

I bet I get as much fun out in Derbyshire with my Mrs on sunny days roof down manual box in my old E85 as I would in a £50k car.
To be honest I get as much out of keeping my old jalopy in fine fettle as I do driving it.
You'll still be careful were you park your next toy no matter it's £value.

Cheers Jim, at a short 5'6" a loft is easier for me than most...

I know what you mean, you don't need mega bucks to have a good day out. Nice box to have ticked though.
