E89 23i

Yes I'm still looking for a replacement E89 manual after selling my old E85 3.0SE 2 years ago  my main criteria has been red - have seen a couple of red cars over this time but not really up to what I'm looking for :(

have now extended my search to include White - there are a few about down this way - one is a 23i M sport which I have to say looks pretty stunning in Alpine White with red leather 2011 - trade sale asking £11k - as a cash buyer no doubt could be less - has 58k miles - would have preferred lower miles if I'm honest but good provenance and mot history and a reputable garage and decent warranty - does this seem a fair price ?

I've also driven the new 4 pot turbo versions but on balance prefer the 6 pot even though the 23i is not as quick as a 30i - on paper the 23i is only half a second or so slower and you can remap a 23i to up the horses by 16 or so I;m told.

Its also depends what options it also has, e.g. idrive, parking sensors, cruise, audio, heated seats, etc. Mileage isn't bad for that age of car. is it this one?

similar ones out there at same price so its not obviously expensive. Does depend what extras you want...

I would contemplate a white one too - although personally I dont like the red leather (tarts boudouir)... (each to their own!)

I've got a 2.3sDrive too and am happy with the performance. For me its not sure its worth the small amount of power gain I don't even dive mine in sport mode very often!

If it is that one, nice car except I would want iDrive and PDC..... its got heated seats. Mines white with black leather, boring but easy to maintain

Yes it is that one - what is IDrive ? do you mean sat nav ? Sat Nav is desirable but I'll never need it on the IOW

Yes sat nav, maybe not so important for IoW but it does come with other features other than just the maps (music hard drive, DVD player, vehicle information) and yes parking sensors. Mines stored in a garage and they are really useful for driving in and out and because mines got iDrive the parking control also comes up as visual on the screen. Try and get as many options as possible will always help with resale value, some options are maybe easy to retrofit and some near impossible.

i-Drive relates to the infotainment system - it is the one with the screen that flips up and the twiddly knob in the centre console.

S Drive relates to the car itself - I think it is just BMWs designation that it is rear wheel drive (vs. X Drive which are 4 wheel drive).

I have a white 23i and love it. The options I had to have were parking sensors, folding mirrors, heated seats and I got them all. Wasn't too fussed about i-Drive. I paid just under £11K for a 59 plate car with approx 50k miles

I also got e89 23i have had it 18 months now and love it, its got I drive without parking sensors and cruise control :x . Had a remap about a month ago (extra 20 bhp) slightly quicker about 2 mpg better on average :)

BMAC, if someone drove a remapped and standard 23i back to back and were unaware that a remap had been carried out on one do you think that they would notice the difference? The reason I ask is I have a 23i also and would be interested in a remap if it was worth the money. It's not a big BHP difference so I'm just trying to weigh up cost against upgrade.

Hi, have you got before/after dyno runs you could post showing the difference over the whole rev range?

Sorry no just by what quantum said :)

The 23i remap is definitely worth it, the car's low end torque noticeably increases even in normal mode, and more hp in the high rev range is nice too. They dumbed the N52 down for environmental reasons...
If you check my post, I added performance figures I measured with an OBD tool.
