E89 23i vs e85 3.0i performance

Hi there! Since I haven't found much real life performance figures on the 23i, I recorded some myself with an OBD scan tool connected to a mobile app. I am also lucky enough to have tested an older e85 3.0i (231hp) for comparison. The 23i is a 2010 model manual trans the 3.0i is a 2003 SMG.

Here are the best figures I could achieve, note they are from separate runs. The 23i also has custom chip, the 3.0i is stock. I am also not as quick at shifting as an SMG or a racecar driver :) . Oh and sport/sport+ mode on, DSC turned off.

23i:
0-40 km/h: 1.527 sec
0-60: 2.806 sec
0-80: 4.502 sec
0-100: 6.814 sec
0-120: 8.942 sec
0-200: 26.204 sec
80-120: 4.272 sec
80-180: 14.955 sec

3.0i
0-40: 1.629 sec
0-60: 3.422 sec
0-80: 4.781 sec
0-100: 6.77 sec
80-180: 16.32 sec

I will do some more later, these are from about 5 runs with each car. I am bit dissapointed in the e85, it does have high mileage (235000km) so performance is probably not as new. Also with the 23i if I accumulate the results of my best start and shifts, 0-100 comes to about 6.2 sec. Not bad I think...

If you have precise measurements I am also interested! Peace

That is cool, as a fellow 23i owner I am of course curious about the custom chip. Any idea what kind of power and torque figures you are running?

Cheers!

a +1 on this

and thanks for sticking the info up

Will not be more than around 210BHP on the 23i.
I had mine mapped by Celtic Tuning, so many people told me it was a waste of time for the small gain.
However, the result is surprisingly good, changing the power delivery curve can result in good performance gains with relatively low BHP gains.
Car is a lot more driveable (correct spelling??), more low down torque for sure, it potters along at tickover in third gear with no problem and legs it off the line to 40 in first gear like a rocket. It will also pull off the line in second at a good lick with no gear change required till around 55mph!!
