E89 23/30i, £10k(ish) budget

After deciding that I'll be breaking/scrapping my very poorly E85, it is abundantly clear to me that I'll need a replacement but one with less risk and a bit more value.

I'll be starting a proper search quite soon but I figured I'd start here.

Some essentials:
Roughly £10k budget
E89
6 cylinder, naturally aspirated (I have neither the risk appetite for a 35i/is nor the budget creep scope to get one warranty-able by BMW this time around unfortunately)
Automatic
Good condition with the opportunity for a reasonably thorough inspection
Any metallic colour
Factory PDC
Mid-range speaker system

Nice-to-have:
iDrive with USB audio connection
Heated electric seats with lumbar
Top speaker system

From my previous E89, I know that cruise control can be retrofitted (which I would be doing if it didn't come already on the car), and looking at the spec list, nothing else really stands out as anything I am particularly bothered about having (though if there's some "must haves" that I've overlooked, then please let me know!)

Before I start my search properly, does anyone here know of anything going (or coming up shortly) that would meet my requirements (or close enough to them that we could talk about it?)

This one's looking very strong post-spec check and MOT history lookup, price and location are good for me too!

My initial thought was you’ll b lucky to get into a 3.0i at that budget without it been big miles but this looks very nice if everything checks out ok

Only observations from the pictures are the top of the drivers bolster seems very worn/discoloured and it’s on 296’s which are very prone to cracking on the rears on the inside, especially if they’re the earlier version of wheels. Other than that DSB and Ivory, what’s not to like

Indeed.. Best colour combo  That alcantara on the boslster cleans up pretty well with some auto finesse interior cleaner.
That car could be a good buy if it drives well OP

Thanks for the reassurance! Have spoken with the seller and got a good vibe from them too, so have arranged to have a video call to go around the car in a bit more detail, look at the history etc. before potentially arranging a holding deposit + test drive.

Been nearly 4 years since my last E89 so rather excited!

Access through work meant that I could pull the VIN from the registration too and the spec is rather strong - in addition to the usual 30i spec, it also has:
Deep Sea Blue / Tiefseeblau Metallic
19" V-spoke style 296 (I'd probably be looking at changing them to Style 293s as I love the design

Pure White design package
- Exclusive Nappa leather upholstery in Ivory White
- Fineline Anthracite wood interior trim, high-gloss
- Sport seats

Media and Connectivity package
- Navigation system – BMW Professional Multimedia
- Voice Control
- Bluetooth telephone audio connection
- Bluetooth telephone preparation
- USB audio interface***

Exterior mirrors, folding
Wind deflector
Windscreen with grey shade band
Cruise Control with brake function
Park Distance Control (PDC), front and rear
Seat heating
Through-loading feature with integrated transport bag
Extended lighting
Loudspeaker system – BMW Business
Extended lighting

Almost seems too good to be true, but it's a weird market at the moment so who knows!

Just check those wheels! 2015 MOT shows two cracked ones. They may have been replaced, but could have been welded and still on it.

It does look pretty decent, though, in general. Don't see it as a mega-bargain with the miles, but definitely reasonable. Good luck.

Yes of course, I'll be sure to take the low profile jack and get a good look underneath - any considerations for jacking these up or would it just be like any other BMW in that you'd put it in park and lift on the jacking points with a suitable adapter?

Yep same as any other!

BMW Business audio is the naffo 6 speaker system version..banned in the US!

However there are a few things that can be done easily to improve that point..others like iDrive, extended USB support are much harder work..

Naw, it's got option code 676 aka Hi-Fi - the middle option so has tweeters, centre speaker and such

Splendid

Well, that's me back in an E89!

Went to view today, took the jack and everything.

Pretty much entirely checked out across top-side visual inspection, going over the service books, getting underneath with a trolley jack and a test drive - only things that I weren't expecting were:
- suspected oil filter housing starting to go based on oil down the front of the block and a slight weep right around the oil filter housing
- the rear tyres have maybe a summer left in them

Wasn't expecting this either, but very pleased to see it!
