Just checked with eSure and they said they'd increase my premium by £16 a year for the 280bhp Celtic remap.

You arent far from me, where did you get the Celtic remap done and how much was it?

Haven’t had it done yet. Was just checking if my Insurer would cover it and for how much. Been told by Celtic that in Scotland for a stage 3 remap they charge £360 and England it’s £295. I think they can do home visits from what I understand. Not booked it in yet cos I’m gonna go get it done when I’m in Leeds next and save £65.

[ref]Boltz[/ref], yeah... Definitely more enjoyable; been away for a few days, but looking forward to getting back behind the wheel. I'd be interested to experience it with a manual box.

Celtic Map, still good and with no regrets?

Mines just around the corner, coming on Monday for the full fat version.

WOW!!!!!!! The dirty deed has been done and the transformation is dramatic. Big thanks to Jamie from Celtic👍

Give us the numbers!!!

What insurance are you with? I'm with Admiral, but they only allow +25% which isn't really enough for a 20i remap.

[ref]Felixlamb[/ref], try Chris Knott Insurance (there's a discussion forum on here dedicated). Or the one that worked well for me this year is Adrian Flux Insurance.
They both specialise in modified cars.

CK said they can’t insure me as I’m only 19 (or they wouldn’t be competitive if they tried).
Was with Adrian Flux previously but moved away from them after they gave me a duff quote, but might be worth giving them another try.

Staying with admiral would mean the max remap HP could only be 230HP, but Celtic and evolve are more around the 260HP mark. (I mean Celtic can do lower power ones but why would you! :driving: )

I understand that it is possible to see if a car is remapped, but is it possible to see the power output?

I'm sure you could get a (ahem) 24.9% increase done

Then if you do crash it, just make sure it's bad enough that they can't stick it on a rolling road to check. 8)

True. Highly doubt an insurance company are gonna Dyno a car that’s been in an accident just to see how much power it produced 8)
Trust me... it only makes/made 229.9HP... Swear on my life!

Think I should probably ride out my 1y BMW warranty first though! Already had £2k of work done on it at their expense with new halfshafts, god knows if anything else will happen in the remaining 8 months of the warranty

I have a 2015 sDrive 20i M Sport Auto (E89). I'm interested in a remap. Already it seems there are few trusted brands in the business and it makes sense to me in a market like this to go with a firm with a sound reputation. Before I do that I'd be interested to hear if anyone:

a) regrets their remap
b) had problems they suspect could be linked to a remap
c) would choose a different provider based on their experience.
d) chose a remap of an intermediate level and if so, why?

I've zero experience of this kind of thing so apologies if my questions seem dumb. A little more power seems appealing but only if the downsides are negligible.
