E89 2014 - Window Washer Filters

Had my E89 into the ‘stealer’ for MOT and brake fluid change… £125; then received a call… failed the MOT… the washer filters need a clean as the washers are not working… a further £180; I said I’d collect it and do it myself, took me 30mins to remove reservoir, clean filters and replace!

Treated myself and the missus with fish and chips :driving:

They seem a good breeding ground for sludge.
Needs something in the water to kill the bugs.
My tap water is not chlorinated so my car can suffer this if i don't put wash fluid in.
Reminds me, stuff i bought was clear liquid, i need some more.

Yes, it's a common problem on BMWs.

OE BMW washer fluid doesn't seem to mix with any other brand so you get algae sludge. Plain water is a no-no too!

I've done that job on an E86 and an E46. After cleaning the filters I stuck to one brand of screenwash and never had a problem.

Just praying it never happens to my E90 3 Series as the reservoir in behind the wheel-arch liner. :o

I daren't look at mine. It never goes anywhere near rain, or main roads, so not even sure if the washers work TBH (which stalk is it BTW) :D
