E89 (2009) yellow hand brake light

Hi,

I just test drove a 2009 (around 30k mile mark- serviced 2x) E89 and I liked it! It had a yellow (?) hand brake light on whilst I was driving it and the guy said it was due to a brake pad wear warning which comes on 2k miles before they need to be replaced on the front and 5k miles at the rear (or something like that anyway). He said they would replace the pads front and rear before selling it to me- and service it to include a 6 months warranty. This is a small trade dealer and they seemed genuine enough.

Being a complete newbie I just wanted to verify with you guys if there is anything else worth checking before biting the bullet- I'm thinking of going back tomorrow and having another look around the car.

Cheers

Hi, what model is it & what wheels does it have? Can you post a link or a pic?

If you havent purchased it yet, I would walk away unless the garage has the issue diagnosed by BMW.

Yellow light could mean all manor of expensive problems:

Could be a hydraulic pump issue which is expensive, or an indicator that the breakfluid is low.

How long has it been driven for like this?
Why is it for sale? etc

Best to find one without!

The op says he’s buying from a dealer so any issues would be sorted out at their expense before purchase, it shouldn’t be a problem. :?
