I wanted a Z4M coupe for ages, but I got wangled into testing a 3.0Si Sport coupe. I was worried about the steering based on the fact it wasn't hydraulic and having just come from a 60's Mini too. I was really surprised how good the 3.0Si is, and I haven't even thought the steering feels electric in all honesty! It's got a really good weight to it and it's very consistent like hydraulic.

Does it let you feel the road surface thru the steering wheel on your finger tips?

That's a fair appraisal from dougie - it's accurate and the weight is decent - but, as above, there is pretty much zero feedback from the road. The Z4M steering isn't exactly gushing with feel though.

Thanks MrPT

I'm going to try before I buy. Heart was set on a 3.0 coupe, but now thankful I asked.

Coming from various sports cars, steering feel is an absolute must. Best of the bunch was my Subaru RB320 for feel and engagement.

Try before you buy has to be the way to go.

I had an E87 with EPAS before I started my E86 journey so didn't find the EPAS on the E86 too bad - until I got an E46 with HPAS as a daily!

Replaced my E46 with an E91 also with HPAS and I preferred it to the E46.

Then last year I got my MC so also HPAS. It's noticeably better than my 3.0Sis were but I wouldn't describe it as exceptional. :(

I've never had a car with anything like the steering feel my MK2 Escort RS2000 had with no PAS!

Trying to find 1 near me, and being able to drive it will prove difficult no doubt.
