Here for sale I have my lovely 2006 3.0Si Z4, this is the second time I have owned this very car! I purchased it from the forum directly in 2021, the forum member had owned the car for 9 Years prior. I sold the car to another forum member who owned the car for nearly 3 years & kindly gave me the opportunity to purchase the car back in August 2024. Since then I have only covered circa 1,000 miles in the last year, moved house & now have a garage which has led to the decision to purchase another motorbike, hence sadly the sale of the Z4.

I can honestly say this is a genuine, lovely example that I myself spent several thousand pounds sorting out in 2021, the owner I sold it to has also kept on top of routine servicing & repairs when needed as you can read below.

I will pop the Autotrader link here for quick access to the pictures of the car taken yesterday,

Here is a quick rundown of the vehicle’s specification and maintenance history,

Apr-21 88,600 Replaced front springs, top mounts and drop links - £390.71
Jul-21 88,900 Replaced brake pipe (past MOT advisory)

Below is the work I carried out during my ownership in 2021,

When I got the Z4 it was great but had a few niggles that needed to be rectified, I hate ignoring issues so went about fixing all issues as quickly as I could.

First issue was the OSF Bi-Xenon light allowing water ingress, I intended to replace this the back cover as most do and rectify the issue but after removing the headlight found the rear bracket itself had snapped from a previous bulb change hence letting water in, resulting in the only fix being a replacement light - £642.68 Genuine Headlight ordered through LLL Parts, replaced the Ballast and fitted on the drive all good problem fixed – No issues since.

Next extremely annoying issue was a rattle from the rear exhaust, another somewhat common issue the NSR Exhaust hanger has snapped away from the back box, I took the opportunity to leave the car with a local Exhaust Fabricator who removed the exhaust completed, removed some of the internals from the rear box and mid box (Sounds Perfect trust me, not overly loud or anti-social but purposeful and makes a few pops if you get right up the rev range) welded the hanger back onto the rear box and refitted with new gaskets at the front. - £24.36 Genuine Gaskets x 2 I supplied from BMW - £350 in Labour for the Work and Exhaust modification completed. – A Rattle gone and an exhaust note improved, money well spent if you ask me.

Next, Fog Lights did not work at all, quick check and they were full of water and ruined, second hand units ordered from Ebay, New bulbs fitted and 10 minutes to replace them and 2 working fog lights.

Even though the vehicle had only covered 1000 miles since its last service it was 12 months ago so I added a full service to the list and with it being 6 years since I could see the plugs had been changed, I added those to the list, furthermore at 90k miles I thought it was a good idea to replace the gearbox and differential fluids at the same time and brake fluid for good measure.

I have invoices for all the following service parts (Circa £200)
Mann oil filter
Mann air filter
ATE type 200 brake fluid dot4
Millers EE performance c3 5w-40 oil (1 litre top up in boot)
Bosch double platinum spark plugs

Having ordered all of the following and waiting to do as much work as possible in the time I had of work I then noticed that there was a vibration in the steering between 50-60 and it almost felt a little indirect for a so called sports car, this I can forgive at the age and the mileage it took me all of 10 minutes on google to come to the conclusion the Front Lower Arms and Lolly Pop Bushes were probably past their best, the same pages highly recommended the Meyle HD Lower Arms, so I set about ordering the Lower Arms + Powerflex Front ARB Bushes as well to try and tighten up the steering and front end again. Further - £267.83 – Parts Alone.

Quick Breakdown of who did what (Invoices for All)

BMW Specialist AP Automotive – Replace Gearbox Oil / Replace Differential Oil and Fit Supplied Spark Plugs - £210.48 – September 21
Local Independent – CR Garage – Fit Supplied Front Arms, Lolly Pop Bushes, Upgraded ARB Bushes and Alignment + Brake Fluid Change - £324.76 – September 21
Renault Shrewsbury – Oil Change / Air Filter / Oil Filter - £Beer Tokens to the Master Technician – Perks to being the Sales Manager there.

After having this completed the car felt 100 times better but… the steering wobble was still somewhat present which led me to about 100 different reasons of what this could be etc etc etc, car went back to the garage and they couldn’t find anything wrong and were adamant it was perfect.

So, I couldn’t just leave it I kept digging and found out they don’t have a hunter alignment and having a quick look at the wheels the weights on them from who ever has fitted the tyres on the alloys before my ownership had clearly had a heavy night the previous evening as they were far from straight so, I booked in to a fantastic independent back home (Recently Moved Out) for a Full vehicle Inspection, Hunter GEO Set Up and all 4 Wheels Rebalanced. - £196.80

Best money I spent to far, alignment was way out and all 4 wheels weren’t balanced to 0. Just wow, the car now drives amazingly, no vibration at 50, 60, 70. Straight and direct just how it should be, I cannot stress how well the car drives now compared to how it drove the day I picked it up and I still fell in love and bought it anyway, the E86 has that effect on you, trust me.

Other Little bits I have done that are worth mentioning,

New Velour BMW Mats - £70
New Badges (Others were tired and tatty – Bonnet, Boot Lid, All Wheels)
New Clips on Light access flap in arch liner – All Were Broken
All 4 Brake Callipers Painted in Heat Resistant Silver Paint + Retaining Clips all replaced with brand new items to finish the clean look.
2 x New Genuine BMW Exhaust Tips (Previous Were Showing their Age, Great Addition)
Rear Windows Professionally Tinted to Factory 20% Tint -£186.00 Including Grill work below
Front Grills Removed and Chrome Edges wrapped in Gloss Black
Genuine M-Sport BMW Dust Caps (Not Shitty Ebay Replicas)

Work Carried out from 2021-2024 before I reacquired the car by the previous forum owner above & beyond standard servicing,

Jan 22 - Replacement Battery Bosch S5008 096
July 22- Replacement A/C Compressor due to In/Op AC
May 23 - Replacement Rear Trailing Arm Bushes

Work Carried out from August 2024 until present after I purchased the car again,

Sep 24 - Full Service: Oil, Oil Filter, Air Filter, Pollen Filter, Brake Fluid, Window Wipers (Millers Oil & Mann Filters) - £383.95
Sep 24 - 4 x New Continental Contact Sport 7 Tyres (Covered 1,000 miles), MOT & Front Brake Pipes Cleaned & Protected - £763.80
April 25 - Replacement Battery (Previous Keeper fitted the incorrect size) - Replaced with Bosch S5 A11 - 115 - £147.11

Negative / Bad Points to note:

Obviously the car is 20 years old now so a few points worth noting:

- 20 pence size of Lacquer Peel on the bonnet front edge (This was on the car in 2021 when I purchased last time & hasn't got any worse).
- NSF Wheel Kerbed (Happy to have this repaired at asking price)
- Usual age related stone chips on front bumper
- Drivers bolster has minor wear of colour but worth noting

Asking Price is £9,000 which I feel for the specification, work completed & history with the car is a fair price, I appreciate it is not the cheapest on the market but I do not believe it is a cheapest on the market example, the car is currently dry stored in my garage on trickle charge so no rush to sell my end.

Any questions please do let me know.

Thanks,

Beautiful! Love the colour combination, silver on red is a winning spec.👌
If I didn't have mine, I'd be arranging a viewing. 👍

No that’s how to do an advert, except maybe a few more pictures. 👍🏻😊

Only reason I didn’t post more pictures is I have linked the Autotrader Advert above with 25 images, didn’t think it made sense to bulk up the advert too much!

Thanks,

The hex lights in the garage say all that needs to be said. Fantastic looking car owned by an obsessive - exactly who you want to buy from.

Someone will do very well to get this bought quickly before it's snapped up.

Brilliant.

Thank you! I will certainly be sad to see it leave for the second time but there is a Ducati with my name on it for the next couple of years!

No doubt about it. You find the best cars on the Forum. That looks an absolute stunner with a detailed history. GLWTS.👍

Great car and well worth the asking price imo.

Not helping me me not go for CSLs though :rofl:can I ask what tyre sizes they are?

Fresh 12 months MOT now on the car as of this morning.

Clean Pass.

Grand total of 1,080 miles this past year!

Free bump from a previous owner. Absolutely loved this car, it drove well when I had it so I can only imagine how good it feels after all the meticulous work Ben has done on it.

Hopefully it stays in the forum - I bought it from a forum member way back in 2012, grinning from ear to ear as I drove it from Newcastle back down to London, and had many memorable trips in it :driving: I'd be very tempted to buy it back from you if my life didn't involve 2 kids and the need for a camper van in my life.

Ben, good luck with the sale. Although from experience, you'll regret letting it go.

Appreciate the kind words! It really is a lovely car that has been cherished throughout its life!

I would love to see it stay on the forum but the interest in the car so far has all been from outside of the forum so it may well be taking a trip away this time!

Reduced Price to £9,000 as I’ve found a bike I would like to move forward with & purchase but have nowhere to store it until the Z4 finds a new home.
