E86 Tailgate stop buffer

Hi guys,
Does anyone know if the stop buffer for the tailgate (51247161069) is spring loaded or not. I have just replaced the ones on the bonnet/trunk, because they were seized in the down position. Now the bonnet raises a little bit, enough to get your fingers under. I am wondering whether the rear ones should lift the tailgate a little when the key fob button is pressed.
Thanks,
Paul.

They aren’t spring loaded like some bonnet ones but they can be screwed out to add more tension into the closed position

Just went out to my Coupe to check and the tailgate ones aren't spring loaded!

Unlocking the tailgate using the key the tailgate does pop up a bit - I'm guessing the lock mechanism holds it in tension.

But could you fit the spring ones instead? Would it help?

Yes you can

And it works well I did it on a roadster

Thanks for the replies. The reason I asked the question, is when you look at some sites selling the rear buffer, they show them in three parts. As though it is spring loaded. The new ones for the front came in the down position. The old ones fitted to the car, were stuck in the down position, so it took me a while to realise they were supposed to be spring loaded. That was just me being thick I suppose ☹️.
