E86 Si Sport slight clunk.

Hi all, just collected my 2007 E86 coupe with 108k on the clock. Very good service history. Can't see or feel anything wrong with it other than... I noticed when I am dropping gear and just about lifting the clutch up either into 4th 3rd or 2nd I get a slight clunking noise. I have also noticed it when accelerating in the same gears... Its very slight but something is definitely clunking. Sounds almost 'tinny' there's no delay in power or any power loss, its just at the start of dropping a gear or as soon as I put pressure on to accelerate I get the noise. No idea if it's the clutch or gearbox... Any ideas?
 
Umm I'm sure my car was doing this when one of the brackets had corroded and snapped off that holds the anti roll bar in place?

Thanks for this... I'll have it checked out and hopefully its just something along those lines. :)
 
It could also be the splines of the differential are dry? A quiet clunk on sudden acceleration and deceleration?

This is quite common (a few threads on here) and does not result in any damage (my car has been doing it for the last 2 years), although it is annoying. You can have this re-greased, but I believe it is quite a big job. Somebody on here had it done by a local BMW specialist for about £200-£250.

Thanks buddy, I have it booked into the bmw specialist for an inspection / service. Other than a few niggles and slight noises the coupe seems very nice for its current mileage. I'll put these suggestions to the mechanic and see what he says... Much appreciated
 
Mine is on 120k and still drives like a new car. They seem to be quite hard wearing cars/engines. Most fun car I have ever owned.

Get your mechanic to check the front wishbone 'Lollipops' (front wishbone, rear bushes) while the car is there. They are one part that doesn't seem to last well and affects handling horrifically (luckily parts are cheap and the job doesn't take long).
