E86 rear hatch drain?

Couldn't find this in a search apart from E85 owners taking the p155  (just wait 'till your hood leaks! )
Does the E86 hatch have a drain at all. I ask because as we all know the rear of the lid is higher than the glass so you get your own private pool when parked in the rain. There appear to be drains ( ? ) at the bottom of the hatch near the lock but I can't see any at the bottom of the rear screen. Should there be? Many thanks.

No, there aren’t any drains under the hatch window. It is a dubious design detail from BMW to create that water trap aka the bird bath.

Chris

Thanks Chris, dubious design though, I had hoped there were slots in the rubber and they were just blocked. Oh well

If you leave the hatchback open then the water doesn't collect there :P

As a Z4C owner I'm struggling to believe that I just wrote that....

It’s just corrosion waiting to happen :P
Yeah, thanks! Lucky we all look on the bright side here isn’t it !
And on top of that, just to remind people NOT to let moron tyre fitters loose on their cars, I now have 2 winter wheels on and 2 summer wheels on the other side as my wheel bolt key sheared in two. God only knows what torque those bolts are done up to but I have a 2’6” breaker bar and I had to stand on it :o then of course the key shears :x Ordered 2 so hopefully when they arrive I can get the other side wheels off. I normally do alloys to 90lbft these must be nearly twice that.

At least I am still not allowed to drive ( stroke ) so I wasn’t going anywhere, just preparing for when I can :)

Our drive slightly slopes forwards and there is a collection of water regularly on my hatch on the left hand side. I tend to flick it out with my fingers as walking past it. Very annoying

This boils my fucking piss when this happens. Some wally sat there with an impact driver hanging off the end of the bolt for a month no doubt.

Just to complete the story, bearing in mind that I bought this car recently, always main dealer ‘serviced’.
Got the bolts out then couldn’t get the bloody wheels off the nearside, no copper grease on the hubs surface! Give me indy every time. Blanket folded against wheel and sledge hammet to remove them! Even tried bringing it down on the jack to the floor, bolts out and going lock to lock, nothing! Jack just below jacking pad to catch it if you were worried :)
Anyway, now have my winters on, at last. All bolts at sensible torque.

Ahh... the notorious coupe lake. I wipe mine dry pretty much any time I walk past the car and it's got any water in it. Such a crap design flaw.... :(
