E86 rear console removal

Trying to access the CD connector located within the firewall of my coupe. From what I’ve read its a total PITA to remove all the rear trim and carpet in an E86 as opposed to the roadster.

I’ve also read its sometimes easier to access from the front and disassemble the rear centre console storage/nav part. Anybody have any guidance on how to do this? Whilst I have it out Im going to try to fix the broken door on it too, so I figured two birds with one stone.
 
I went in through the boot to do my bluetooth upgrade, not a horrendous job just quite time consuming as I combined it with some sound deadening and felt to stop any little rattles, all i would say is it depends where they have stuck your cd changer connector as mine was right at the back and would have been pretty tricky getting it from the front, if that makes sense?

It does make sense; thanks for the recommendation on approach!
From boot side, was it rear inner plastic-between-lights out first before taking off either side and finally back wall?
 
yes, basically work back forwards if that makes sense, i reccomend having a roll of sticky back felt to hand for re assembly amazing the difference it makes in removing creaks and rattles you didn't know were there!

Will do. So far I’m relatively squeak free, but I completely get how that situation can change after a random pothole or speedbump :lol:
 
I wouldn’t have thought the boot carpet would be that much different for non ///M between E85 and E86.

I’d try the boot option first, has to be easier than from inside the cockpit.

:thumbsup: I found a how-to for the console on zpost. Posting a link below in case it’s useful for anyone. Looks crazy so maybe the boot is the better option. Funniest comment is the guys mate after he’d posted it all, saying maybe easier to go through the boot :lol:
