E86 Rear Camber Advice

Evening all, so today I had my coupe lowered using the Eibach Pro Kit and I fitted my 19's after. I'm quite surprised at how much negative rear camber I have....

So from the pics this looks quite excessive to me? I don't have exact numbers yet but I'm off for a geometry check tomorrow, although I doubt I'll have that much adjustment.

So should I be worried about this much camber? Should I invest in rear adjustable arms? If so what ones? I've been looking at Eibachs but they are not cheap, ideally TUV approved too.

My concern is I have Michelin tyres fitted, they are not cheap, so I don't want to waste them with negative camber.

Thanks

Mark

Looks about right to me, the rears are supposed to have quite a lot of -ve camber. It's -2.5 degrees for m-sport suspension as standard. I've also got the pro kit springs (as part of the Bilstein B12 set) and I think I'm right in saying I didn't need the rear camber adjusted afterwards.

If your drive is flat, you could use an iphone etc to get a rough idea of the camber (or measure the drive too and calculate the difference) if you're worried it's miles off...?

you can adjust camber with stock suspension arms. Any decent alignment centre can do it.

I know, the only thing is I think my cars already on max adjustment. It's going down on a Hunter alignment today so I'll see how I get on and post up the results.

My main concern is tyre wear.

Wear is an issue even when it's "correct" at -2.5... I've seem some people suggest changing it to -1.8 or so for just that reason. In fact, when I go for alignments they sometimes ask as well.
The advice I had last time was that if I spent a lot of time on the motorway, it would be worth straightening them up a bit to reduce premature wear on the inside edge.

What sort of driving do you do Mark? If you mainly do motorway / dual carriageway cruising then reduce the camber to even out the tyre wear.

If however you do a lot of twisty A-road / B-Road driving then I don't think the wear would be that uneven (shifting forces etc.)

I used to do a lot of dual carriage way, 50 miles each way but my GF lives with me now so not much at all.

I'm taking it down to the hunter this morning but I'm not sure I trust the monkeys doing it, being down in the south west your not really spoilt for choice when it comes to garages who know and take an interest in working on performance cars.

The only other option is my local BMW.... :?

Alignment all done. Everything flagged up red on the Hunter, but it's all been adjusted back into spec. So last time when they told me my rear camber was on max adjustment it was probably more like the guy doing it couldn't be arsed. Luckily today I got the guy who knew what he was doing.

So rear camber was 2.90 on the rear and is now 2.30

Thanks for all your advice/help guys 8)
