Hi all,
I have just become a proud owner of a 2008 E86 in Space Grey, one that has been very well kept by previous owners and still in great condition. A big shout out to Zachary Luke, a great guy to deal with who has a genuine passion for these cars. I don't often recommend car dealers but credit where it's due, thanks Zach.

Having just let my Toyota MR2 Roadster go to make space for this, it has a lot to live up to! However, first few drives (all in the rain) bode well and the extra space for storage is a big plus.

Never really been a big fan of BMW design but, for me, this model just stands out. Looking forward to road trips and adventures in this great looking car :driving:. Based in mid Wales, I will stay tuned for events near and far. A few images attached, mostly hurried snaps as rain hardly stopped since I brought the Z4 home 🙄.

First jobs will be to add a ZHP gear knob and, more importantly, replace the runflats with 4 new boots. Looking at Michelin PS5.

Steve

Hi and welcome to the forum Steve.

I always loved the look of the E86 and seem to have become addicted to them!

Space Grey is a great colour and while Zachary Luke cars aren't the cheapest, from what I have read their cars are always good examples.

A ZHP is a great improvement, and right now Vertu Motors are doing a 20% discount on parts ordered from them on Ebay. Just use the code "STARTNOW20". If it hasn't been done already it's also worth removing the Clutch Delay Valve.

Thanks for the welcome. I thought this intro may have been deleted for some inadvertent infringement, hence a second just posted! I'm sure that Zachary is likely not the cheapest but any major issues were sorted prior to sale and a good warranty to boot. Not an advert for Zach but certainly a recommendation.

I appreciate the discount code and the advice on the Clutch Delay Valve. One minor frustration to remedy are front PDC sensors which are very sensitive, even when driving at normal speeds along roads with no traffic in front.

That is probably because your front parking sensors will be after-market ones, BMW never offered them on the E85/86. I had OE ones on a 1 Series and they only engaged after you had selected reverse, then turned off as soon as you got to 10mph.

I got an alert for your other post so will see if I can delete it to avoid duplication.

Thanks for deleting the second post. The after market front sensors are just always on, with no switch, so would prefer to simply disable them.

Permanently on parking sensors would drive me nuts so I'd want to disable them too!

Keep a look-out on the Meets/Events pages on here. Zedfest near Loughborough is always the biggest of the year with over 100 cars. If you like a couple of days of swift drives in the Lakes and Dales the National in Crooklands is a blast but the hotel rooms tend to get booked fairly quickly.

A bit nearer home forum member colb based in Newport organises a local run from time to time.

A couple more pics with slightly better light and a quick wash.
