E86 M S54 with Eventuri and sound generator!

I’m looking for a sound generator too if anyone knows how/ where to get hold of one, please. The chap who makes them doesn’t appear to be reachable.

Likewise, where might I get hold of an afe for my M? I can’t seem to find a supplier in the uk. Any ideas anyone, please? Happy to consider a second hand one if anyone’s gone in another direction.

Thank you, but unfortunately he’s not contactable by it- he doesn’t respond to comments or DMs.

Imagine he probably did a limited run when he had the car, expect moved on by now to other things or not enough demand.
On the plus side, put that money towards a proper intake, Gruppe M / Eventuri / AFE / or even a full carbon intake if you feel flush.

To be honest I can imagine getting bored of this quite quickly and wanting more sound, even with a proper intake I still want more sound with a carbon airbox! The sound of the engine, especially induction, is one of the best features of these cars IMO so spend some money letting it sing properly, you won't regret it

The GruppeM I have now is fairly muted compared with the aFe intake I had before it. I bought one of these sound generators and it does make a significant difference, but it still doesn’t match the aFe for both volume and its ability to bring out all the nuances of the engine. It surprised me given the price difference and the reputation of GruppeM for the S54. Also, I have a GruppeM on my RS4 which sounds immense, so I expected more.
Unless you’re really craving the appearance of a carbon heat shield, I would save a great deal of money and buy the aFe intake over the GruppeM or Eventuri, simply for the quality of the sound. Somehow the aFe metal heat shield brings out the S54 rasp at low rpm and scream at 8k in a way that a carbon heat shield simply can’t match.
Otherwise, spend a huge amount and get a proper carbon airbox with the pure CSL sound!

I fitted my AFE with Pro-5R oiled filter last year. No MAF issues after 1000 or so miles luckily. Did you go with the Pro-5R or Pro Dry S filter?

Where did you purchase new from Nervy as only one retailer offered it in the UK when I was looking?

Install was fairly uneventful apart from one nut falling down to the undertray which luckily was visible and I could use a telescopic magnet to pick up. AFE instructions worse than useless mind so best of luck with your install.

Sound sensation is now chaos from the front and rear. Intake slightly drowned out by my BCS exhausts but it comes alive around 4k. The growl is aggressive & addictive. I feel if I went with Gruppe M or Eventuri with my current exhaust setup I wouldn't of heard my intake sound. If you have stock exhausts you will be extremely impressed I'm sure.

Only negative as mentioned a few posts back by BMWZ4MC is the painted finish of the cover wasn't the best & mine is starting to bubble.

This is all really interesting, not to mention heartening as it means I’ve made the right choice for once. I ordered the AFE from somewhere in Yorkshire I think, on the grounds that they had it in stock. They’ve now mailed me to say it’ll take a couple of weeks to arrive so I guess they’re just ordering it from the US too, which I could have done myself and saved a couple of hundred quid. Anyway, I’m looking forward to it very much as I know this engine is dying to be heard a bit more. I love that you said it’s chaos from both ends. That’s made me even more impatient.

Fitted CSLs this week too, so we’re only moments away from my dream spec M now.

Thanks for all your support and advice chaps, I’m super grateful to you.
