E86 Kidney Grilles on Montego Blue car

I've never been a fan of the OEM grilles fitted to the 3.0Si, so I've just fitted a pair with black slats.

I think they look better, but am wondering if I should take the grey pair apart and spray the slats body-coloured or even some sort of chrome finish.

Or has anyone done anything else?

No doesn't work for me even in the sun when the car's clean! - I need to change these for something that gives a bit of definition to the front of the car.

I used to run body colour outer and standard silver inner. Of course that was black but I'd do the same again on a blue car.
