E86 in transport mode

Hi guys, a bit cheeky this being a new member and all but nothing ventured, nothing gained...

My battery died on Tuesday and while I have it sorted I noticed that my AC, rear window heater, heating fan etc etc are all not working. My research leads me to some nefarious skullduggery known as "transport mode". As I understand it this is easily cleared but seems to be rather expensive.

What I am wondering is if there is anyone local to the Luton/Dunstable area who has the equipment and knowhow to help me out with this (assuming such a thing is possible and I am not dependent on BMW dealers). There's a case of beers and my eternal gratitude in it for you!

Also, Hi! Loving my new Z4 (Montego blue Coupe) A new wheel bearing, a rear view mirror, 2 gaskets and a new battery all in the first month and I STILL adore it! It must be doing something right!

Hi Mike77

When I first bought my z4 it was stuck in transport mode. I picked up the software and cable from http://www.cable-shack.co.uk. .......about £45 I think.

There is loads of guidance on the forums to clear this once you have the above.

Jimmy there is an absolute gent and ended up remotely linking into to my laptop and clearing the transport mode for me as I was struggling to install the software.

Would definitely be my starting point.

Hope you get sorted

Yogi

I have to come down to Enfield from Leicester next Wednesday and could bring laptop if your free.

Yes, a very kind offer.

Thanks anyway but with the weather closing in I needed to get it sorted ASAP. My local specialist did it for me in the end. Cost £45 but he took a look over the car at the same time for me as I've had a few issues since I got it a month ago. Here's to at least a few weeks of trouble free motoring... although on top of what I listed above I have already picked up a stonechip! The car is jinxed!

Stick with it Mike, it'll sort itself out with a bit of care and attention, unlike some breeds...
