E86 Depretiation

I've just joined the forum as I'm considering an E86 coupe for a year or two.

What's people's current experience with depretiation on their E86s?

I'd probably expect to do circa 7k-8k per year max and thinking of a manual 3.0Si Sport (blue or grey).

If you buy the right car at the right price you should be able to sell it for what you paid/ maybe even make a profit :)
 
As has been said, if you buy well it should hold it's value OK.

I bought my first in 2014. End of 2015 the water pump died, and being an electric pump replacement was expensive. I got a bit disillusioned and agreed to sell it to a forum member in May 2016, realised what I had done and promptly bought my current one!

Sold my first for a little more than I paid for it 8,000 miles on, but then I did get a main agent service done the week before I sold it that cost most of the difference (and the advert I bought it from could have been better to be fair)!

My current one is the same age, but cost a bit less mainly because it has done more miles! Not too worried about that though because I only do 4-5K a year in my Z4.

To be fair if you plan on 7-8K miles a year for 2 years it may drop a little - but who knows? I keep getting told it is a future classic - but nobody seems to know quite when it will become a current classic!

Just buy it to enjoy it! :lol: (And I can't see values tanking).
 
these cars are now at a stage in their life that only worthwhile owning if your handy with a spanner. otherwise buy it with the mindset your going to be losing money on repairs, maintenance and servicing.

I disagree, as long as you buy one that has a good service record, even better a long term forum members Z, you should be ok. These cars apart from the 2 or 3 well known issues are fairly bullet proof.

Besides, any car new or old needs maintenance and servicing.
 
They seem to be holding there value better than other coupes from the era. Caymans 350/370Z and the like. But buy a well cared for Zed because of it's condition and because you enjoy the car. The long and the short they are fine cars and you will possibly lose less money running one for two years, than similar Coupes. :wink:
 
I've had mine just over a year and I reckon it might have lost £1k. That said, I've spent enough upgrading and modifying mine to offset that minimal loss over a year.

I agree they're pretty bullet proof. I've not had to replace anything that's broken as of yet - not bad for a 10 year old car.

I think because they were only made for 2 years if you get a lowish mileage one and not add too many miles you won't lose a fortune that's for sure.

But they are cars for driving and very (very) addictive!! :driving:

well if this dealer's anything to go off, prices are on the up. 80,000 miles and nearly 13 grand?! Think you'd lose a fair bit if you sold it after a year or two

Wow - I hope nobody on here buys that one as it is way over-priced! You'd lose £3-4K when you drove it away! :roll:

I bought my second one last May with 78K miles for about 2/3 of that price! (I wonder if the dealer is needing any stock)? :lol:
