E86 Coupe Monaco Blue - Brakes update

Hi,

I don't share much on here as my car isn't exactly what I would call a project. Just the constant battle of trying to maintain a 'new car' look. This my 3rd Z4 after having 2 convertibles, so fairly well versed with their 'ways'.

I had the 108's refurbished by Diamond Styling, a split rim specialist about a year ago, run flats were disposed off and Goodyear Eagle F1's fitted.

I finally got around to fitting new pads & discs, also gave the brake callipers a freshen up.
Pads are EBC Green Stuff, Discs Brembo. Going to upgrade them to MTEC Drilled next summer.

Yesterday I installed Eibach Wheel spacers 15mm rear, 12mm front with a Bimecc extended bolt kit.

The brake calliper colour is a lot more subtle in the flesh.

Great job, lovely car. How do you find that combination of new spacers, aethetically?

Is yours lowered?

Thanks.

Mine is standard ride height. The spacers allow the wheels to fill the arches out compared to the OEM set up. Just sits right.

Terrific, Iโ€™ve been mulling about spacers for ages. Where did you get yours from, if you donโ€™t mind me asking; I might put some on my Christmas list?

That looks excellent markprz86. The silver on the alloys/discs/calipers is lovely and subtle.

How did you find spraying the caliper? Much prep required? Did you have to remove it?

Thanks!

Spacers are Eibach and got them from onlinecarparts.co.uk, they are essentially Autodoc but had the best promotion on the parts at the time. All i have noticed so far is that the steering is a bit heavier.

As I was replacing pads and discs it made it a lot easier to do the callipers, I wouldn't personally want to paint the calipers whist fully assembled on the brake discs, but that's my personal preference.

It's only a couple of bolts to remove the caliper/carrier. I didn't disconnect the main part of the caliper from the brake lines however. I used a drill with wire brush head attachment to do the main part of the prep, this was really effective.

I actually painted them by hand instead of spraying them due to the paint I used/colour I mixed. The only part is sprayed were the new anti rattle clips, these were done in a matt black heat paint.
