E86 coupe modifications

Hi guys,
I’m very new to the Z4 community as I just picked up my 2006 3.0Si coupe last week. I don’t want to go crazy with mods and spoil the already awesome design of my Z, but I was just wondering if anyone would have any suggestions as to what I could change/ improve with the car potentially. Thanks for any help and I’ll attach a picture of my car :)

You've come to the wrong place

You'll see pictures of others cars and won't be able to resist.

Most mods are quite tasteful on here luckily.

Welcome btw

Your car looks great, nice colour combo. I see many Z4s on the driveway! :D

Ah well I wish I could say they were mine! But they belong to the man who I bought the car from unfortunately haha

Welcome to E86 ownership, although I can see a 2nd one in your second photo. I've had 3, but only one at a time!

What you modify depends how much you want to spend but most owners on here get rid of the run-flat tyres, but different wheels are another option that isn't necessarily too expensive. If your car is a manual one removing the Clutch Delay Valve costs nothing but improves the gearchange quality especially between 1st and 2nd.

Fitting fresh suspension like a Bilstein Pro 12 kit is also quite popular as you get lower Eibach springs and Bilstein dampers, although there are other options. Particularly as OE springs have a tendency to snap and will probably be past their best given that E86 production ended in 2008! Here's a timely link:- https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=140096

Then if you want to spend 4 figures+ you could try to track down a pair of Aero sills, or get Birds to fit a Quaife LSD.

Whatever you decide to do there will always be people on here encouraging you to lighten your wallet.

Anyway good luck whatever you decide to do.

what are you trying to change or improve? you after comfort, performance, handling, or purely aesthetics? are you a fan of the stance scene?

personally, i like track driving, so my first recommended mod would be a set of nankang NS2R tyres and some Pagid RS44 brake pads... :driving:

Well being new to the scene I’m not entirely certain about all the specifics I want to focus on with the car. But I think a little bit of everything. I need to have a deeper look into what other people have done on the forum, but at the moment I’m just trying to gather some ideas mainly around performance and aesthetics I think.

Depending weather you like cosmetic mods or driving mods.

An LSD really changes the way these coupes handle and behave in the corners. :driving:

Stop procrastinating...just supercharge it

...and do the brakes...
...and do the suspension...
...and do the exhaust...
...and do the LSD...
...and do the ARBs...
...and do the wheels...
...and do the tyres...
...and do the seats...
...and do the bushes...
...and do the cooling system...
