Hi,

I'm still looking for a Coupe in Northern Ireland. SW Scotland is a possibility too.
I viewed a tidy one here a few days ago but there was no service book! It did mean I got a test drive which convinced me to keep looking.

I think you might have to extend your search area to the mainland.
I'm also in Northern Ireland and I had to go to Luton for the one I bought.
The advantage is the bigger choice and the drive home.

As you seem to have discovered they are well worth seeking out!

Just a thought but if it had been serviced by BMW dealers you should be able to buy a blank book and get details from BMW.

But otherwise you may need to widen your search area given that only just over 3,000 Coupes were registered in the UK, and that includes the SE models. And Z4s don't seem to have sold in big numbers in NI.

Anyway good luck finding the right one. :thumbsup:

Just a thought, but what about asking a forum member to view a car you have your eye on? Then with the relevant feedback, you could get it delivered to NI? It's maybe worth considering, as there are enthusiastic and knowledgeable members all over the UK. :D
 
Hi Darryl,

I bought my E86 in Belfast back in 2014 when we lived in Northern Ireland. I had looked for a local one for a few months with no luck so I let the BMW main dealer (Bavarian Belfast) that I was after a coupe and they sourced one from a customer within a couple of weeks.
That was nearly 7 years ago now & I don’t know if they’d have the same interest in finding the car now they’re much older, but you could ask? We moved back to England in 2015 and the car is still on the original NI plates.

Anyway, my story isn’t much help but it does let you know that they do come up for sale over there occasionally!!

Thanks for the advice. It was worth a try to tease one out locally, as unlikely as it might be.

I've bought Aria's car in Aberdeen (advertised here on the forum) and brought it home yesterday. :thumbsup:

Looks a good purchase, congrats!

I went to see the one you had viewed. Very nice steer, shame about the service history. Am considering it.

A complete absence of service history was a no for me, despite the car looking in great shape. The seller should perhaps contact BMW to get the service history. I'm sure BMW would only give it to him and not a prospective buyer.
The one I got is in equally good shape at 70k miles.
Actually seeing that local one convinced me that something on higher miles shouldn't be a massive risk.
