E86 coding ABS unit

Hi all

I have a few other jobs to sort on the coupe with the loom issues

One is that I believe someone has swapped the ABS unit over (no idea why)

I’m rebuilding my bmw tools as the laptop I had died. Once done I am going to try to recalibrate it first as it’s showing calibration errors.

If I need to code it to the car does anyone have guidance how to do that?

I found this document which is e39 principles which look (I assume) similar. I also presumed the vin needs entering using ncsexpert.

Thanks in advance

Stuart

Following - I need to do this exact same thing. The ABS (DSC) module in my Z4 was damaged from water ingress and was replaced with a second hand module. This resolved the dash errors, but still results in a persistent module conflict.

Didn’t the E86 use the DSC unit that the E89 used?..if so that would be a better coding option..imho

I think the ABS unit on most I’ve seen is the later unit ending in 174

Dynamic Stability Control Mk60 and Mk60E5

The DSC Mk60 is fitted on vehicles with 4-cylinder engines.

The DSC Mk60E5 is fitted on vehicles with 6-cylinder engines.

A variant of the DSC Mk60E5 is fitted in the E60 M5. This variant is adapted to the M5 / M6.

Functional description, see Vehicle Engineering Diagnosis (VTD):

340104107 (DSC Mk60E5, DSC Mk60) or 340103017 (only E85, E86).

I think I’ve read that when doing the coding you have to select e89 platform in ncs

All sorted

Calibrated and 4/5 issues went including steering angle sensor code

Last one was an ABS sensor

Now have zero codes which is pleasing.

Didn’t have to code it in
