E86 boot carpet question

Hi all,

In my slow quest to add an interior to my previously stripped/track car, I've just spent the evening tackling the boot.

I can't work out how the carpet is meant to go, though, and was wondering if anyone has any photos of theirs?

You can see the problem here:

My guess (as now I see the photos, it's clearly the wrong colour...) is that the e85 and E86 parts are different here, and I've been sold an e85 one, not an E86 carpet...

- I've got two foam blocks/spacers on my rear bulkhead carpet (and Bluetooth module on the left).
- The carpet is all inline vertically with the load cover/parcel shelf.
- The side carpets are in the correct place/all the holes/clips like up

The problem is that the thin bit of floor carpet has a load of slack in it, and to remove that slack, the bulkhead carpet gets bent at the corners (see photos - they do a better job of explaining it!). But it looks like the floor carpet sits on top of the bulkhead carpet?

So they are different! I wish I'd known that before buying this one (fyi - they're £17 new from the dealer for the e85. Most on eBay are more expensive than this!)

If anyone with an E86 has a part number for this bit of carpet (I can't see it on realoem), I'd be very grateful!

I think it’s in one piece with the bulkhead trim panel:

Thank you for checking! That's the part I found too, but I really hope it's not the case, that it's one piece.

It's also odd, the car came with the hard floor (over the battery), and the bulkhead trim still, but not the middle bit. There's no signs of cuts, so I'm hoping it's two parts and realoem is misleading.

Hi herewith photos of my boot - March 2007 E86 3.0Si. The carpets are all the dame colour, just the light and pile makes them look different in the photo. The bulkhead is a separate piece to the boot floor piece. The image of the straight right angle junction (with my thumb in it -0704) the the horizontal joint between the floor and the bulkhead. Interesting also you have 2 lights whereas I only have one. Did you add one ?

Just to add, the little curved bit on the left end of the small step up from the battery cover is solid and the carpet shaped to fit over something underneath. (photo 0699)

Superb, thank you very much! Looks like the layout is the same between E85/E86, but just slightly different lengths. I guess I'll just trim mine down with a knife to make it fit, and redye it if needed.

Yes - I did add another light. I didn't have one at all, and they're often sold in pairs as they are sun-visor lights for the E9* series, so I bought two, added some extra wiring across the boot and connected it up. I didn't want to cut the car's wiring, so found a female socket to receive the existing light's plug and then grafted the Y/split in the wiring into that, then connecting to the two pig-tails that came with the lights, leaving the original loom untouched (I have the complete wiring loom from my old E46 - very handy for tasks like this!).

Same as mine. For reference - that something is where the battery cable drops down into the battery box below.
