E86 Bike Rack/Rear Window

Hi all,

Quick question, has anybody used a rack on the back of the coupe by attaching it to the top of the rear window?

This fits ok, the weight won't be much (just the frame) & it's secure. I'm just curious as the rack is attached to the leading edge of the rear window - where there is no metal.

I've not driven anywhere yet, & was just wandering if anybody else has successfully used this method of attachment.

I've changed things a bit as I wasn't happy with the rack pulling on the glass. It's not as neat, but it's now secured to metal instead of pulling on glass that is presumably glued in.

Saris Bones. No issues whatsoever. With any rear rack just ensure the weight is focused on the lower feet/bodywork and the straps attaching to the shut lines are for sway support. Also always set it up, drive a few miles and then re-tighten as it will need it.
 
20 miles done on the dual carriageway at up to 70mph with no issues using the set up in the second picture.
